Я ничего не путаю. Для прохождения интервью в гугле достаточно решить несколько логических задач для которых не нужно иметь базовые данные.


Пример вопросов:

1. How many times a day does a clock’s hands overlap?

2. You have eight balls of the same size. 7 of them weight the same, and one of them weighs slightly more. How can you find the ball that is heavier by using a balance and only two weightings?

3. Four investment bankers need to cross a bridge at night to get to a meeting. They have only one flashlight and 17 minutes to get there. The bridge must be crossed with the flashlight and can only support two bankers at a time. The Analyst can cross in one minute, the Associate can cross in two minutes, the VP can cross in five minutes, and the MD takes 10 minutes to cross. How can they all make it to the meeting in time.

1.) The minute hand makes a full circle every hour and each hour at some point it overlaps with the hour hand - that makes it 24 times in a fortnight or 12 time in a "day"
2.) Put on each side of the balance 3 balls:
-- If they both sides are in balance then the heavy ball is among the remaining 2 balls - put each remaining ball on both sides of the balance and find the heavy one
-- If the 3 balls on one side are heavier than the balls on the other side then take off the 3 on the heavy side; leave one ball aside and put in the balance the remaining 2 balls; if they show equal then the heavy ball is the one you put aside; if the heavy ball is among the two you put on the balance you'll find that right away.

3.) This doesn't seem to have a solution in 17 minutes:
- Two of the men have to cross the bridge at the same time, one stays there the other one goes back with the flashlight to take another man through the bridge
- This will take 3 crossings of the bridge by 2 people.
- If you take into account just the time for Associate (2 min) and the VP (5 minutes) and the MD (10 min) it all adds up to 17 minute - it doesn't take into account the time it takes for the fastest one (the Analyst) to get back and take another of his buddies through the bridge.

Можно быть гениальным математиком и при этом полным дебилом "в миру".

Гениальность в выбранной стезе и полный дебилизм в миру, это как правило удел великих и гениальных одаренных музыкантов. В обыденности любой из них если не дебил, то как минимум клинический идиот. С математиками же все-таки это не столь заметно. Конечно если не брать Перельмана и еще некоторых, то у математиков в голове все-таки больше порядка.
