A major thoroughfare in Baldwin Hills is shut down Tuesday night after a more than half of the street buckled horizontally across multiple lanes, according to California Highway Patrol officials.

La Cienega Boulevard between Stocker Street and Rodeo Road is shuttered while crews try to fix the collapse in the road, which by 10:30 p.m. had stretched across at least three lanes (pictured below).

CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos said the road will likely be shut down into the night, and crews might not be able to fix it until Wednesday morning. CHP was called to the area shortly after 9 p.m.

Crews from LA Public Works and LA Department of Transportation are on scene, Villalobos said.
