About 5% of French population are Muslims from North Africa and AY-rabia.( I am sure you know that). That's official data. I think it's probably 10% if you count all the illegals. And they don't get assimilated as well as immigrants do in US or Canada...

I think there are 2 reasons. First of all, inherent French( and generally European) xenophobia. And second of all, Muslims, given the state of evolution of their religion and culture( somewhere in the dark ages if you ask me), genocidal barbarian savages are more difficult to assimilate than any other religions or cultural group.
