Got my green card in October 2003. I heard it's possible to apply for citizenship several months in advance, and that its not necessary to wait exactly 5 years to be able to apply. Is that true? When can I apply then?

in 4 years 9 months after the date you got your permanent resident status
(so, basically 3 months in advance)

elfy всё правильно сказала, хочу добавить, что если Ваша ГК была выдана на основе брака, то это можно делать через 2 года 9 месяцев с момента её выдачи.
