Green Card or citizenship?

I have a 10 year Green Card, also being a Russian citizen. Have been thinking about applying for American citizenship but not sure whether I really want or need it. Any thoughts?

Yeah, I would like to hear some too... :D

I'm myself going to apply when the time comes. There are certain advantages in that for me. First, easier travel, second, my retirement money, third, a lesser possibility to be kicked out of the country if I screw up with the law somehow... I'm going to keep my Russian citizenship too, by the way.

Ошибаетесь. Российские граждане, в отличии от, скажем, украинских, могут иметь два гражданства. Что совсем не то же самое, что двойное гражданство, впрочем.

Можно конечно. Я как раз имею.Никто не запрещал.
А как известно все что не запрещено, то разрешено.

Вернее так, в РФ можно, в Украине = низя.

could you explain the part in bold? what exatly did you mean? are you planning to go back to Russia when you retire?

I don't know yet, but I might choose a different country when I retire, maybe one with the cost of living slightly lower than in the US. I don't want to lose my retirement money, because at that time it will be my only source of income.;)

By the way, elfy, I don't know about the Original Poster, but I thought you spoke pretty darn good Russian... :D

Да, странные вопросы пошли...

Как дядя Федор уже заметил- основные преимущества в возможности путешествовать без виз и не оказаться депортированым из страны в случае проблем с законом.
Ну и плюс голосовать будет можно, хотя надо вам это или нет- дело сугубо личное, как и все остальное.

Я лично, кстати, не вижу причин, почему бы не получить гражданство- у меня необходимости в этом еще меньше (визы и так почти никуда не нужны), но как срок подойдет обязательно подам- тертье гражданство тоже не помешает, мало ли чего... (уже есть российское и канадское )
Никаких проблем со вторыми, третьими или четвертыми гражданствами ни Россия, ни США, ни Канада не имеют.
