Administrative cloud hangs over Toyota
A cloud of red tape has descended on the Toyota team and it could theoretically lose its first F1 podium finishes according to a report in June's F1 Racing magazine. The report claims that Toyota failed to get their competition licence and F1 Superlicence paperwork in place until after the San Marino Grand Prix which means that in theory they could lose the points they scored in the first four races of the season.
If that becomes the case then questions will have to be asked over why they were allowed to compete without the requisite papers. All teams are required to have these documents in place to take part in races. There is also speculation that the absence of this paperwork was the reason Toyota decided to back down in their FIA Court of Appeal hearing against Ralf Schumacher's 25-second penalty for dangerous driving in the pit lane at San Marino.
The FIA is apparently investigating the issue though it seems curious why this would only come to light at this stage of the season and not earlier when the Toyota team would presumably have needed to show the papers in order to compete.
At the heart of the issue is the lack of a national racing licence from German motor racing authorities, which the team now has in place.

У меня очень теплое отношение к этой команде, и поразили неудачи в начале чемпионата. Надеюсь к середине они выйдут на свой уровень, терять Шумми ой как не хочется....я тогда вообще перестану смотреть:(Originally Posted by McMan

Не волнуйтесь, всё будет хорошо! Я тоже не хочу чтоб Шумахер уходил, хоть и не являюсь его болельщиком, но неужели после Шумахера уже незакогО не сможете болеть.Originally Posted by Cleopatra

McLaren boss offers Räikkönen lifetime contract
McLaren boss Ron Dennis has offered Finland's Kimi Räikkönen a lifetime contract. "We will fight to keep Kimi in our team. He can stay with us as long as he wants", the Briton told the Finnish TV station MTV3. "He has the abilities to win many, many world championships. Not one, but many."
25-year-old Räikkönen, against whom the competitors had no chance at last weekend's Spanish Grand Prix when he drove to his third victory in Formula One, came to McLaren in 2002 as a successor of countryman Mika Häkkinen. He was given a five-year contract immediately. Already in 2003, he almost beat Michael Schumacher to the drivers' championship.
"If we don't offer something good to him, he will go look for another team in the future", Dennis warned. Ferrari's Jean Todt has hinted that he's interested in Räikkönen's services several times, as the Scuderia will need to find a successor for Michael Schumacher in a few years. The German world champion's contract expires at the end of 2006. The 36-year old from Kerpen has yet to decide whether he will remain in Formula One after that.

Paul Ricard Day 3: Massive accident for Wurz
The six teams in action today at Paul Ricard were forced to change their scheduled work after Alexander Wurz suffered a massive accident at the fastest point of the circuit in his McLaren Mercedes. The car was annihilated and Wurz taken to the medical centre but has luckily emeged unscathed.
Wurz was travelling at over 180mph until something failed on his car and it dived off the track into the barriers. The accident destroyed his car and caused such damage to the safety barriers that marshals were unable to repair. As a result the other teams were forced to return to a different, shorter version of the track without the long straights that the teams wanted to explore in preparation for Canada.
Up to that point McLaren's de la Rosa and Wurz were at the top of the time sheets on the 5.2km version of the track ahead of Montagny, Zonta, Kovalainen and the two BAR Hondas of Sato and Button.
Testing in the afternoon on the 3.55km version of the track saw Sato go fastest ahead of the two Toyotas of Zonta and Panis. Kovalainen was fourth ahead of fellow Renault rider Franck Montagny. Red Bull and Sauber Petronas were the other teams in action today.
