за правильное произношение заходила девушка и делала минет. за плохое произношение ударяли током! не знаю во что.

- уважаемый Дима. Порекомендую Вам читать как можно больше [authentic] матерьялов на английском - любых, от современной худ.литературы до статей на узкоспециальные темы. А также общаться по мере возможности с образованными носителями языка. А то Ваш английский труднопонимаем. Так бывает, когда он выучен по книжкам, написанным лет ...дцать назад, пусть даже хорошим. (Я тем же страдала, пока сюда не приехала, поэтому поверьте на слово. ;) )

- опять же, поверьте на слово, что герундий требует беспредложного дополнения (очень частая ошибка русскоговорящих) и предлога [of] после него не нужно. ;) Дегри эта самая, безусловно, зависит от усилий, а вот с умственным развитием Вы погорячились... умственно отсталые дети овладевают иностранным языком столь же успешно, сколь и одарённые. Как это ни странно. ;)

Научный - он и есть сам по себе тщательный. ;) Что до ковыряния в высокой фонологии, взывает оно по большей части к учёным-лингвистам. Для нелингвистов же иностранные языки - всего лишь инструменты для общения с разноязычными коллегами и не более. Времени у них нет на непроизводительные для их научных интересов усилия. :kos:

Ваши ученики приходят к Вам, потому что мотивация у них УЖЕ ЕСТЬ. И создаётся она совсем иначе, чем Вы думаете. Толкуя народу, что он (народ) туп и ленив, Вы создадите у него (народа) горячее желание дать Вам хорошего пинка под зад, а никак не желание внимать новоявленному гуру. ;)

You're right in this particular case. It's a typo. And excusable, because I just finished mastering of my course's DVD.

Hey, we are not talking about sister grouping of chimpanzees and humans as revealed by genome-wide phylogenetic analysis of brain gene expression profiles here.

I'm seriously affraid that some forum participants are not going to digest it in Russian either. So, let be careful next time, I guess. It's not my English that "strains" big ears of some folks here, it's their general ability to comprehend things.


Since some of you have expressed your alleged supperiority in English SOLELY based on the fact that you reside in the USA, well, allow me to retort...

First off, most of you ended up there either by Jewish-immigration programs beofre the early 90s - Vienna, Rome, "No Israil - AmeriKa", it's not a great feat.

Those of you who immigrated to the states in the 90s - you are freaking TOURISTS, opportunists and losers. You had had a chance to fight for your "happiness", yet you just took off.

I trully respect only those of you, who crossed borders ilegaly back in the USSR times, defected from "the agencies" or CD. But, again, such people wouldn't be on this forum. Many of them returned back.

As far as I am concerned, me fellow "compatriots", I also ended up on American shores back in 1989, after sleeping for two weeks on the street in Vieena, Austria, where, in turn, I ended up by crossing some international borders illegaly. And I did have some issues with the Soviet military, by the way.

Also, I spent about eight years in the USA. I had reasonable jobs, including, for example, being a program manager at Caterpillar. Which, by the way, paid me back then above $150,000 (not in NYC.) And I had 140 direct reports.

Learning English "from the books" is THE ONLY way to learn ANY languge. Right now books are usually in electronic format. So, Internet counts as books, I guess.

Also, I wrote two books in the USA. In English. Proofread by editors, for crying out loud. I am not claiming to be a grammar expert of any shape or form. It's NOT what I am selling. My corporate training costs $17,500 for 5 days of work. Without doubt it's higher than my weekly salary back in the USA. But again - phonology, not grammar. Finally - not eliminating accents, but reducing them, mostly as a byproduct of developing comprehension skills.

Finaly, I even had some minor brushes with American so called "justice" system and did some short stints "downtown." Alas, it wasn't Raker (sp?) Island or whatever you call that shithole there.


Jeez. I hate Russian-language "ШВАЛЬ" from NYC. True scum.
