Bin Laden was, though, a product of a monumental miscalculation by western security agencies. Throughout the 80s he was armed by the CIA and funded by the Saudis to wage jihad against the Russian occupation of Afghanistan. Al-Qaida, literally "the database", was originally the computer file of the thousands of mujahideen who were recruited and trained with help from the CIA to defeat the Russians. Inexplicably, and with disastrous consequences, it never appears to have occurred to Washington that once Russia was out of the way, Bin Laden's organisation would turn its attention to the west.

President Bush is given to justifying the invasion of Iraq on the grounds that by fighting terrorism abroad, it protects the west from having to fight terrorists at home. Whatever else can be said in defence of the war in Iraq today, it cannot be claimed that it has protected us from terrorism on our soil.

In order to understand why the Islamic State has grown and flourished so quickly, one has to take a look at the organization’s American-backed roots. The 2003 American invasion and occupation of Iraq created the pre-conditions for radical Sunni groups, like ISIS, to take root. America, rather unwisely, destroyed Saddam Hussein’s secular state machinery and replaced it with a predominantly Shiite administration. ...

Rather than promoting religious integration and unity, American policy in Iraq exacerbated sectarian divisions and created a fertile breading ground for Sunni discontent, from which Al Qaeda in Iraq took root.The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) used to have a different name: Al Qaeda in Iraq.

After 2010 the group rebranded and refocused its efforts on Syria.There are essentially three wars being waged in Syria: one between the government and the rebels, another between Iran and Saudi Arabia, and yet another between America and Russia. It is this third, neo-Cold War battle that made U.S. foreign policy makers decide to take the risk of arming Islamist rebels in Syria, because Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad, is a key Russian ally.

Rather embarrassingly, many of these Syrian rebels have now turned out to be ISIS thugs, who are openly brandishing American-made M16 Assault rifles.

Началось с противостояния с Советами в Афганистане и создания боевых групп моджахедов, которые в дальнейшем преобразовались в Аль-Каиду

Ирак со своей стороны был следующим звеном, когда Америка военной силой уничтожила режим Саддама, она создала предпосылки для заполнения вакуума суннитскими боевиками, поддерживаемыми Саудовской Аравией с целью противодействия влиянию Ирана в данном регионе. Вначале это были группировки "Аль Каиды в Ираке", из которых в дальнейшем образовалось ядро ИГИЛ.

Сирия.
Для борьбы с режимом Асада в Сирии Штаты, их западные союзники и СА с Турцией опирались опять же на суннитские радикальные исламские боевые группировки (других реальных сил противодействия с Асадом там не было)

Турция с СА снабжали их оружием (в том числе НАТОвским, предоставленным опять же Штатами) и финансировали,
Штаты с помощью военных советников обучали военному делу и вооружали.

Спустя коротков время произошло неизбежное: группировки радикальных исламистов практически в полном составе, вооруженные и обученные Штатами, обьединились с Исламским Государством (IS).

Ситуация обостряет и то, что до сих пор Турция и СА видят в ИГИЛ инструмент противодействия Ирану, инструмент с помощю которого они пытаются сломать т.н. "шиитский мост" от Средиземного Моря до Персидского Залива (Иран - Ирак - Сирия). Соответственно через Турцию до сих пор идет активный грузопоток в территории контролируемые ИГИЛ и нефтепоток на продажу из ИГИЛ в Турцию. Кроме того продолжается финансирование ИГИЛ и снабжение оружием и Турцией, и СА.

The prosecution of a Swedish national accused of terrorist activities in Syria has collapsed at the Old Bailey after it became clear Britain’s security and intelligence agencies would have been deeply embarrassed had a trial gone ahead, the Guardian can reveal.
His lawyers argued that British intelligence agencies were supporting the same Syrian opposition groups as he was, and were party to a secret operation providing weapons and non-lethal help to the groups, including the Free Syrian Army.

Bherlin Gildo, 37, who was arrested last October on his way from Copenhagen to Manila, was accused of attending a terrorist training camp and receiving weapons training between 31 August 2012 and 1 March 2013 as well as possessing information likely to be useful to a terrorist.


Riel Karmy-Jones, for the crown, told the court on Monday that after reviewing the evidence it was decided there was no longer a reasonable prospect of a prosecution. “Many matters were raised we did not know at the outset,” she told the recorder of London, Nicholas Hilliard QC, who lifted all reporting restrictions and entered not guilty verdicts.
In earlier court hearings, Gildo’s defence lawyers argued he was helping the same rebel groups the British government was aiding before the emergence of the extreme Islamist group, Isis. His trial would have been an “affront to justice”, his lawyers said.

It is not the first time a British prosecution relating to allegations of Syrian terrorism has collapsed. Last October Moazzem Begg was released after “new material” was said to have emerged.

там принципиально никакой системы доводов существовать не может. Всё ведь довольно быстро менялось на протяжении двадцати лет. Особенно структура "афганской оппозиции" по отношению к очередному из правительств в Кабуле. Тот же Бен Ладен для одних талибов был "почётным гостем" ( когда пробовал в Афганистане мобильную связь развивать ) , а для других талибов ( части пакистанских и части афганских ) даже и врагом. В пакистанском талибане тогда было крыло , которое хотело победить на парламенстких выборах в Пакистане , и которому совсем не надо было "дружить с Аль Каидой". Да и если бы дело только в талибах было. Там ведь и Гульбетдин Хекматьяр был , и ещё куча всяких....Не только этот Дустум , и не только Ахмад-шах. В конце-концов самого доктора Рабани ( "основателя талибана" ) грохнули "радикальные талибы" за сотрудничество с правительством Хамида Карзая ( у Хамида Карзая "умеренные талибы" как раз в парламент выбирались неплохо ).
