ЛьстишьБлагодарю, очень приятно. Поясню: я программист, система, которую I support trades derivatives: options, futures, etc. It makes enormous profit that goes to a very few very wealthy people. We (technology) are second-class citizens compared to traders (and bosses/shareholders). They get most of the money, but what we make is still a very nice compensation package. Same programmer in education or even regular bank, for example makes less. But they work a lot less, their release schedule is nothing compared to ours.
Our system allows traders to trade and also trades automatically, watching market conditions and sending orders and trades based on decisions made by proprietary algorithms. When there is latency (slowness) of the system - it makes "bad" trades - that instead of profit produce a loss. It's called negative edge. So somebody has to be there, check the logs and tweak the system to process data faster. That's it.
