Не знаю, отдать директору...или забить?
To school principal of xxxx Elementary School
From Zlaja Zmeya , mother of Young Punk , grade 8.
Today, June the 11th, my son was invited to see his counselor – I know only her first name, Mary.
In her office she found another man, which, accordingly Mary’s words was “a counselor from Next Year High School”.
During the course of meeting Mary was asking my son personal questions, like”What your parent s do for a living” and “What your mother and brother do in the Army?” My son is instructed NOT to talk about our work and anything related to it for security reasons, but he felt intimidated by two adults in the position of authority and was cooperating.
In my personal opinion, prying personal information out of underage pupil is not only rude and unacceptable, but unprofessional, too.
Furthermore, Mary was making rude and disparaging remarks about...myself, also she never seen me in person. Where she got this info – remains a mystery for me. She said the following words to my son “You mother speaks with thick Russian Accent”, “Do you understand you mother ?”
I think that these types of remarks were totally uncalled for and I refuse to believe, that somebody in a position of a school counselor said it “just without thinking”. I suspect that a purpose was to insult my son – who was feeling extremely uncomfortable by whole experience.
I feel myself violated by this prying of personal and private family information out of minor and rude, discriminatory remarks made without any rhyme or reason, other than humiliating my child .
Another point, which I would like to bring to your attention, is about whether this remarkable - by the measure of harm being done to my child and insult, which I have experienced today - “interview” was legitimate at all.
I personally was giving consent for a Elementary School counselor only to work with my son. She was not giving any permission to expose my child to other people.
The question remains – Why she didn’t ask ME about my consent for my son to meet with a counselor of Next Year High? Or she is dealing only with people who speak unaccented English and have at least three generations on Canadian soil?
Well, I will prove her wrong and she will be dealing with you and a school board now. This is a seventh school in the fifth province which my son is attending, and I have never met a school board, supporting this type of attitude in their staff members.
I found a whole experience very insulting - for my son and for myself personally. I feel that my son – and me, too – were being harassed and discriminated against.
I expect the following actions to be taken:
1 – In this paper I am revoking my permission for my son to see this counselor Mary, as well as speaking with her, in personal and in public, too. My son is being instructed NOT to answer any personal questions and NOT to discuss mine and his brother’s service as well.
2 – I hope you, as a school principal, will take this matter accordingly and prevent incidents like that from further occurring with my son.
