Two U.S. groups have announced transistors almost 1000 times smaller than those in use today (features just 2 nanometers in size), and a version of flash memory that could store all the books in the US Library of Congress in a square 4 inches across at 10 terabits per square inch (current technology: 0.5 terabit), using nanoscale magnets.
