Dire Straits was a British rock band, formed in 1977 by Mark Knopfler (guitar and vocals), his brother David Knopfler (guitar), John Illsley (bass) and Pick Withers (drums), and managed by Ed Bicknell. Although the band was formed in an era when punk rock reigned, Dire Straits worked within the conventions of "classic" rock, albeit with a stripped-down sound that appealed to modern audiences weary of the overproduced stadium rock of the 1970s. Unusual in their early days in that Mark and David used small low wattage combo amps, allowing pub patrons to converse while the band played. Despite this oddly self-effacing approach to rock and roll, Dire Straits soon became hugely successful with their first album going multi-platinum globally.

Their most famous songs include: "Sultans of Swing", "Romeo and Juliet", "Private Investigations", "Money for Nothing", and "Brothers in Arms".

Late in 1976, the Manfred Mann's Earth Band toured the States with a new line-up: Chris Thompson (Guitar/Vocals) and Dave Flett (Lead Guitar) replaced Mick Rogers. The album that followed the tour contains the worldwide hit song "Blinded By The Light", another Springsteen composition, and like the album was a huge hit. As well as "Blinded..." highlights include "Singing The Dolphin" with a super Barbara Thompson sax solo fade. Another great album.

Alan Parsons Project

I Robot (http://audiofind.ru/music.phtml?id=240091)
Time (http://audiofind.ru/music.phtml?id=229802)

http://www.ewandtheapp.com/index.jpg
The Alan Parsons Project was a British progressive rock and pop group active between 1975 and 1987 founded by Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson.

Most of the Project's titles, especially the early work, share common traits (likely influenced by Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, on which Parsons was the audio engineer in 1973): they were concept albums, they tended to begin with an instrumental introduction which faded into the first song, often had an instrumental piece in the middle of the second LP side, and concluded with a quiet, sad, or powerful song. The opening instrumental was largely done away with by 1980; no later Project album except Eye in the Sky featured one. Ironically, the instrumental on that album, "Sirius," eventually became the best-known Parsons instrumental because of its frequent use as entrance music by American sports teams, most notably the Chicago Bulls during their 1990s dynasty.

Strawbs

Benedictus (http://www.mytempdir.com/643174)

Queen Of Dreams (http://www.mytempdir.com/643190)

http://www.rgmbooking.com/artists/strawbs/strawbs_f.jpg
The Strawbs are a rock band founded in 1964 in England. Originally known as the Strawberry Hill Boys, they started out as a bluegrass band and eventually moved onto to other styles (folk rock, glam rock, progressive rock, AOR).

Leader and most active songwriter is guitarist and singer Dave Cousins (guitar, dulcimer, banjo, vocals).

Besides Cousins, long standing players were Tony Hooper (guitar, vocals), Ron Chesterman (bass), Rick Wakeman (keyboards) (known from Yes), Blue Weaver (keyboards), who also played with Amen Corner, Mott the Hoople and the Bee Gees, Richard Hudson (Hud) (drums, vocals) and John Ford (bass, vocals), who also had some hits as the duo Hudson-Ford, Dave Lambert (guitar, vocals), Brian Willoughby (guitar), Chas Cronk (bass, vocals, guitar), John Hawken (keyboards) (also The Nashville Teens, Renaissance, Spooky Tooth, Vinegar Joe), Rod Coombes, formerly of Stealers Wheel, Tony Fernandez (drums)and Andy Richards (keyboards). In the early days the Strawbs played with Sandy Denny (lead singer of Fairport Convention and Fotheringay).

The group had its biggest commercial album success in the UK in 1973with "Bursting at the Seams" lining up Cousins, Lambert, Hudson, Ford and Weaver, before Hudson and Ford quit to form Hudson-Ford. In America, however, the two following albums, Hero and Heroine and Ghosts, with newly recruited Hawken, Cronk and Coombes, were more successful and the band did several successful tours of the USA and Canada. While Strawbs are best known by many in Europe for their commercial successes (primarily "Part of the Union" and "Lay Down")these do not adequately reflect the outstanding quality of musicianship and songwriting for which they are known by their loyal fan base.

The picture cover of The Monks': Nice Legs Shame About The FaceAs punk wiped out many of the progressive acts of the early and mid 70s, Hudson, Ford and Terry Cassidy combined together with Clive Pearce on drums (Hud was then playing guitar, having switched from drums) to produce 1979 album Bad Habits as The Monks. The album spawned a surprise no 19 hit with single "Nice Legs, Shame About The Face" (right). They dabbled with 1930s style music in 1980 as High Society before returning to the pseudo-punk format of the Monks for a follow up album released in Canada only, "Suspended Animation" with the addition of Brian Willoughby on guitar and Chris Parren on keyboards. Whilst the album failed to produce further UK chart success, the band were huge in Canada particularly, playing stadium gigs as big as the Strawbs ever achieved, and Suspended Animation went platinum in Canada too. The CD re-release of Suspended Animation includes 6 bonus tracks, recorded for a third album, but never before released, by Hudson, Ford and Cassidy - Huw Gower guests on one track on lead guitar.

Berlin: "Take My Breath Away" (http://james-bruin.memory-of.com/Uploads/Audios/Audio632742258476093750.MP3)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/6d/Berlin_band.jpghttp://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/91/Terri_Nunn.jpg

Berlin was an American (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States) new wave (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Wave_music) band featuring lead singer Terri Nunn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terri_Nunn). Berlin was formed in Orange County, California (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orange_County%2C_California) in 1979. Their first single, "A Matter of Time," was relased in 1980 on I.R.S. Records (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I.R.S._Records) and featured replacement vocalist Virginia Macolino on lead vocals after Nunn had temporarily left the band to pursue an acting career. Their first significant hit was the controversial synth-driven "Sex (I'm A...)" (1982), which was banned by some radio stations due to it's graphic lyrics, but it was "Take My Breath Away (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Take_My_Breath_Away)" (from the movie Top Gun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Gun_%28film%29)) that became their best-selling single in 1986 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1986). They had two other hits: "The Metro (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Metro)", which was later covered by System of a Down (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_of_a_Down), and "No More Words."

Styx

Superstars (http://audiofind.ru/music.phtml?id=184387)
Mother Dear (http://audiofind.ru/music.phtml?id=183135)

http://www.kweevak.com/img_art_pics/me_styx_02.jpg

The band's Wooden Nickel recordings, Styx (1972), Styx II (1973), The Serpent Is Rising (also 1973) and Man of Miracles (1974) were a mixture of straight-ahead rock with some dramatic prog-rock flourishes and art-rock aspirations. On the strength of these releases and constant playing in local clubs and schools, the band established a fan base in the Chicago area, but was unable to break into the mainstream until an early song, the power ballad "Lady" (from Styx II) began to earn some radio time, first on WLS in Chicago and then nationwide. In the spring of 1975, nearly two years after the album had been released, "Lady" hit the top ten, and Styx II went gold soon after.

On the heels of its belated hit single, Styx signed with A&M Records and released Equinox (1975), which sold well and yielded minor hits in "Lorelei" and "Light Up". Recently, on Dennis DeYoung's official website [2], he notes that "Suite Madame Blue" is the third most popular song in the province of Quebec, Canada (where Styx first became a headliner), after the songs "Stairway to Heaven" and "Hotel California". Following the move to A&M, Curulewski suddenly left the band just before they were to embark on a nationwide tour, and was replaced by singer and guitarist Tommy Shaw after a frantic search to find a last-minute replacement. The first album with Shaw, Crystal Ball (1976), was moderately successful (the band performs the Shaw-penned title track to this day) and also includes Shaw's "Mademoiselle" and "Shooz". Its follow-up, The Grand Illusion (1977) became the group's breakthrough album, reaching platinum certification and spawning a top-ten hit and AOR radio staple in the DeYoung-penned "Come Sail Away," as well as a second radio hit, Shaw's "Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man)." The album also includes its progressive-flavored title track, and "Miss America," J.Y.'s only songwriting contribution to receive significant airplay.

Through the late 1970s the band enjoyed its greatest success, with the album releases Pieces of Eight (1978) finding the group moving in a more straight-ahead pop-rock direction and spawning the hit singles "Renegade", "Blue Collar Man (Long Nights)", and Cornerstone (1979) yielding the group's first number one hit, the DeYoung ballad "Babe" (which hit #6 in the United Kingdom, Jan 1980 [3]), as well as their biggest international hit, "Boat on the River".

Heart is a hugely successful female-fronted hard rock band of the 1970s from Seattle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle%2C_Washington), Washington (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington); the band became an AOR (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AOR) outfit in the following decade and continued to produce big hits. The band, whose earlier sound fused elements of folk-rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folk-rock) and power ballads (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_ballad), was heavily influenced by Led Zeppelin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Led_Zeppelin) — Heart's drummer during the '80s, Denny Carmassi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denny_Carmassi) later played with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Page) in Coverdale Page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coverdale_Page). In the mid 1980s, the band shifted to a power pop sound that would bring the band its greatest success yet. The group is most recognizable as being fronted by sisters Ann Wilson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ann_Wilson) and Nancy Wilson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nancy_Wilson_%28guitarist%29).

Stevie Ray Vaughan: "Texas Flood" (http://drummerworld.com/Sound/chrislaytontexasflood.mp3)

http://www.srvrocks.com/srv139.jpg http://www.srvrocks.com/srv43.jpg

Stephen ("Stevie") Ray Vaughan born in Dallas, Texas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dallas%2C_Texas) (October 3 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/October_3), 1954 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1954) – August 27 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/August_27), 1990 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990)) was an American (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States) blues (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blues) guitar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar) legend, known as one of the most influential electric blues (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blues) musicians in history. Stevie had a distinct sound of his own which was partly based on using heavy thirteen-gauge strings. Vaughan's sound and playing style, which often features simultaneous lead and rhythm parts, also draws frequent comparisons to that of Jimi Hendrix (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimi_Hendrix); Vaughan covered several Hendrix tunes on his studio albums and in performance.
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble's debut album released in 1983 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983). The critically acclaimed Texas Flood (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Flood) (produced by John Hammond (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hammond)) featured the top-20 hit "Pride and Joy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pride_and_Joy)" and sold well in both blues and rock circles.

Deep Purple: "Smoke On The Water" (http://dsedit.getgot.ca/mp3/Deep%20Purple%20-%20Smoke%20On%20The%20Water.mp3)

http://www.thehighwaystar.com/rosas/dpir/pics/dphwcc.jpg

Deep Purple is the name of a British (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom) rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_and_roll) group, and is also the name of a song (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Purple_%28song%29) composed by Peter De Rose (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_De_Rose), from which the band borrowed its name. They are one of the first and most famous hard rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_rock) bands. They are considered pioneers of heavy metal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_metal_music), though have never considered themselves a heavy metal band. Together with Led Zeppelin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Led_Zeppelin) and Black Sabbath (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Sabbath), Purple were laying the groundwork for what is now called heavy metal music (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_metal_music), although at the time, the phrase was still to be coined. The group has frequently changed styles and line-ups over the years, but has always included virtuoso (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtuoso) players in its ranks and placed a high priority on musicianship. Some incarnations of Deep Purple have brought aspects of jazz and classical influences to a rock context due to their frequent use of their songs as vehicles for extended and sophisticated solos.

Peter Frampton (born 22 April (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/April_22) 1950 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1950) in Beckenham (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beckenham), Kent (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kent)) is a British (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom) musician (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musician), best known today for his solo work in the mid-1970s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970s) as an "arena rocker (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arena_rock)". He originally became famous, however, as a member of The Herd (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Herd) and became a teen idol (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teen_idol) in Britain. He then worked with Steve Marriott (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Marriott) (of the Small Faces (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Small_Faces)) in Humble Pie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humble_Pie), as well as on albums by Harry Nilsson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Nilsson), Jerry Lee Lewis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Lee_Lewis), and George Harrison (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Harrison). His solo debut was 1972 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1972_in_music)'s Wind of Change (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wind_of_Change).
Peter Frampton is famous for his use of the talkbox (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talkbox) in the 14-minute epic "Do You Feel Like We Do", and the shorter "Show Me The Way".
Frampton's solo breakthrough was the six million plus selling album Frampton Comes Alive! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frampton_Comes_Alive%21) (1976), which included "Do You Feel Like We Do", "Baby, I Love Your Way" and "Show Me the Way". Amongst other albums, he contributed to George Harrison (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Harrison)'s solo masterpiece All Things Must Pass (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_Things_Must_Pass).

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/d/df/Supertramp0062.jpg/800px-Supertramp0062.jpg

Supertramp is an English (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/England) progressive rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_rock) and pop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_music) band that had a series of top-selling albums in the 1970s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970s).
Their early music included ambitious concept albums (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concept_album), but they are best known for their later, somewhat Beatlesque (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beatlesque) pop songs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_music) including "Dreamer", "Goodbye Stranger", "Give a Little Bit", and "The Logical Song". Despite chart success the band never attained superstardom in the USA (although they did in Canada and Europe); it was remarked at the height of their popularity that Supertramp was the best-selling group in the world whose members could walk down any street and not be recognised.

And the seas of time are running dry.
Don't they know it's a lie...
Man is born with the will to survive,
He'll not take no for an answer.
He will get by, somehow he'll try,
He won't take no, never let go, no...
I hear them talk about Kingdom Come,
I hear them discuss Armageddon...
They say the hour is getting late,
But I can still hear someone say,
This is not the way...

"Bohemian Rhapsody" -

"Pink Floyd had stopped issuing singles after 1968's "Point Me At The Sky" and was never a hit-single-driven group, but The Dark Side of the Moon featured a U.S. Top 20 single ("Money")."

А прикинь "Tales of Topographic Ocean"?

"Hey Jude" -

"Layla", "Bohemian Rhapsody" -

2) Использование элементов и приемов из этих стилей (переменных размеров (это и есть time signatures - сколько "ударов" или "сильных долей" в такте), альтернативных строев, ладовости и мелизмов (это долго обьяснять);

Led Zeppelin.

Grand Funk Railroad is an American (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States) power trio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_trio) band (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_band). Not usually well-received by critics, the original Grand Funk Railroad lineup was highly popular during the 1970s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970s), having sold over 25 million records and selling out arenas world-wide. They were often cited as "the loudest rock and roll band in the world." The current Grand Funk Railroad lineup uses the nickname "The American Band", from their hit song "We're An American Band".

AC/DC is a hard rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_rock) band formed in Sydney (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sydney), Australia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia) in November (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/November), 1973 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1973) by rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malcolm_Young) and his brother, lead guitarist Angus Young (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angus_Young). The band has sold over 150 million albums worldwide, making them one of the most successful hard rock acts ever. Their 1980 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980) album Back in Black (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_in_Black) has sold 42 million copies worldwide (21 million in the US alone) and is the second highest selling album of all time. [1] (http://www.everyhit.co.uk/recordalb.html) The band has had two distinctive lead singers, and its fans tend to divide its history into the "Bon Scott (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bon_Scott) era" (1974 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1974)-80 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980)), and the "Brian Johnson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Johnson) era" (1980 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980)-present).

1) индивидуальное восприятие непрофессионального слушателя с различным уровнем подготовленности;
2) восприятие и взгляд профессионала, знакомого с понятиями "recording", audio production", "sound design";

Faith No More "Easy" (http://davidhoyt.com/mp3/Easy.mp3)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/03/Faith_No_More_promo_photo_1997.jpg

Faith No More was a highly influential alternative metal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternative_metal)/rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_%28music%29) group that formed in San Francisco (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco), California (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California) in 1982 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1982) and disbanded in 1998 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1998). The band is probably best known for the singles "Epic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epic_%28song%29)" and "Falling to Pieces" from their 1989 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989) album (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Album_%28music%29) The Real Thing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Real_Thing_%28album%29), and, particularly in Europe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europe), for their cover version (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cover_version) of the Commodores (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodores)' classic "Easy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easy_%28song%29)".
Their music is difficult to categorize neatly, but is rooted in heavy metal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_metal_music). In some ways they anticipated the nu metal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nu_metal) of the late 1990s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990s), combining angular, distorted guitars with big pop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_music) choruses and occasional rap (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rap_music)-style vocals; the astounding vocals of Mike Patton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Patton) adding greatly to Faith No More's distinctive sound. Faith No More have been classified as alternative metal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternative_metal), demonstrating their talent for incorporating elements of funk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funk_music), rap (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hip_hop_music), soul (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul_music) and synth pop into their sound.

Def Leppard "Pour Some Sugar On Me" (http://www.bikerfox.com/randommusic/6.mp3)

http://www.leppardmania.com/images/index/index1.jpg http://www.mccoy.army.mil/ReadingRoom/Triad/09082000/images/def_leppard_3_300_x.jpg

Def Leppard is a British (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britain) rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_music) band from Sheffield (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheffield), England (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/England), that formed in 1977 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1977) as part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Wave_of_British_Heavy_Metal). Thanks to their classic albums, 1983's Pyromania (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyromania_%28album%29) and 1987's Hysteria (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hysteria_%28album%29), Def Leppard became the top selling rock band of the 1980s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980s).
The music of Def Leppard is a mixture of hard rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_rock), glam rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glam_rock), AOR (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Album_Oriented_Rock), and heavy metal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_metal_music) elements. The band has occasionally been associated with the pop metal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_metal) movement of the 1980s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980s), although its sound is more accurately associated with the contemporary NWOBHM (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Wave_of_British_Heavy_Metal) genre of the late 1970s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970s). The band's songs generally feature simple guitar hooks and catchy, melodic choruses. The Def Leppard sound is also characterized by its combination of pop rock and polished melodic backing vocals. This approach is very much evident on their first international single, "Hello America", which blended the backing vocal style of Queen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29), with the guitar crunch of Thin Lizzy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thin_Lizzy).
By the release of the Hysteria (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hysteria_%28album%29) record, it was apparent that the band had developed a distinctive, futuristic sound featuring heavily processed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_signal_processing) drums and effects-laden "space-aged" guitar sounds, overlaid with a layered wall of husky, harmonized vocals. Def Leppard are considered a classic example of the rock sound of the 1980s. Def Leppard is one of only five rock bands with two original albums selling over 10 million copies each in the U.S. The others are The Beatles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles), Led Zeppelin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Led_Zeppelin), Pink Floyd (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_Floyd), and Van Halen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_Halen).

Over the course of their career, the individual members of Rush have been recognized as some of the most proficient players on their respective instruments. Each member has won several awards in magazine reader's polls[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rush_(band)#_note-3). As a whole, the band boasts 23 gold records and 14 platinum (3 multi-platinum) records making them one of the best selling rock artists in history. Furthermore, Rush currently rivals KISS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KISS_%28band%29), the Beatles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beatles) and The Rolling Stones (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rolling_Stones) for the most consecutive gold and platinum albums by a rock band[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rush_(band)#_note-4).

1) индивидуальное восприятие непрофессионального слушателя с различным уровнем подготовленности;
2) восприятие и взгляд профессионала, знакомого с понятиями "recording", audio production", "sound design";

Nirvana was a popular American (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States) rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_music) band from Aberdeen, Washington (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aberdeen%2C_Washington). With the lead single "Smells Like Teen Spirit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smells_Like_Teen_Spirit)" from their 1991 album Nevermind (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nevermind), Nirvana exploded into the mainstream, bringing along with it an offshoot of punk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punk_rock) and alternative rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternative_rock) that the mainstream media of the time referred to as grunge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grunge). Other Seattle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle) grunge bands such as Alice in Chains (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_in_Chains), Pearl Jam (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pearl_Jam), and Soundgarden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soundgarden) also gained in popularity, and, as a result, alternative rock became a dominant genre on radio and music television in the United States during the early-to-middle 1990s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990s). Since their debut, the band has sold more than fifty million albums (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Album_%28music%29) worldwide (see also Best selling music artists (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Best_selling_music_artists)), including more than ten million copies of Nevermind in the US alone. http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000065VA1.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg http://www.zoilus.com/documents/peter-gabriel.jpg

Peter Brian Gabriel (born February 13 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/February_13), 1950 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1950), in Cobham, Surrey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobham%2C_Surrey)) is an English (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/England) musician (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musician). He first came to fame as a member of the progressive rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_rock) group Genesis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genesis_%28band%29), went on to a successful solo career, and more recently has focused on producing and promoting world music (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_music) and pioneering digital distribution methods for music. In addition he has been involved in various humanitarian efforts.
As the leader of Genesis in the early '70s, Peter Gabriel helped move progressive rock to new levels of theatricality. In his solo career, Gabriel was no less ambitious, but he was more subtle in his methods. Gabriel achieved his greatest popularity with songs from the 1986 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1986) So (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/So_%28album%29) album, most notably "Sledgehammer", "Big Time" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Time_%28song%29), "Don't Give Up (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don%27t_Give_Up_%28Peter_Gabriel_and_Kate_Bush_son g%29)" and "In Your Eyes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_Your_Eyes_%28Peter_Gabriel_song%29)." ("In Your Eyes" had a conspicuous inclusion in the 1989 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989) film Say Anything... (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Say_Anything); consequently, it was as popular that year as it was initially in 1986.)

However, some have derided their work for its bleakness and lack of instant accessibility.

Like most early British rock groups, they were influenced by a variety of American musical forms, especially electric blues (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_blues) and early rock 'n' roll (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_%27n%27_roll). By the mid-1960s, The Stones had fused their influences into a signature, guitar-based sound that established a prototype for hard rock. Second in popularity only to The Beatles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles), The Stones affected a rebellious, bad-boy image that helped propel their rise from an energetic modern blues outfit to one of the world's biggest and most influential bands. By the end of the '60s, The Stones had a great number of hit records. Their music never strayed far from the blues, however, and by 1968, they returned to blues-based rock, embarking the following year on the now infamous U.S. tour that saw them billed as "The Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World". They continue to record albums and tour the world to this day.

The name “Rollin' Stones” was used for the first time on July 12, 1962, as they played in the Marquee Club to replace Blues Incorporated.

(From left) Bill Wyman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Wyman), Brian Jones (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Jones_%28musician%29), Charlie Watts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Watts), Mick Jagger (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mick_Jagger) and Keith Richards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_Richards)

Founding members Mick Jagger (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mick_Jagger) and Keith Richards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_Richards) are regarded as one of the greatest songwriting (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Songwriting) teams in the history of rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_%28music%29); the band never stopped being inspired by other genres. Reggae (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reggae), funk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funk), disco (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disco)/dance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dance), country (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Country_music), folk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folk_music), soul (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul_music), and even psychedelia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychedelic_rock) have leaked into their recordings. They are the longest surviving rock 'n' roll band in history.

Dio is a heavy metal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_metal_music) band (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musical_band) led by vocalist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vocalist) Ronnie James Dio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronnie_James_Dio), who formed it in October 1982 after leaving Black Sabbath (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Sabbath). In an interview that is available on the special edition re-release of Holy Diver (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_Diver), Ronnie states that he never intended to begin a solo career. His intention was to just form a new band, with fellow former Black Sabbath (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Sabbath) member drummer Vinny Appice (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinny_Appice), but Dio just became the band's name by accident, for he was well known, and it just sounded good to name the band Dio at the time. In addition to Ronnie on vocals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vocals) and Keyboards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboards) originally, and Vinny Appice (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinny_Appice) on Drums (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drums), the band featured Vivian Campbell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivian_Campbell) who played guitar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar); and Jimmy Bain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Bain), bass (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bass_guitar).

Alice Cooper (born Vincent Damon Furnier, February 4 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/February_4), 1948 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1948)), is a hard rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_rock) singer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singer) and musician (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musician). He is often referred to as the founder of shock rock. Alice Cooper was originally the name of Furnier's band. Furnier officially changed his own name to Alice Cooper for a successful solo career.
Furnier was born in Detroit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit) at a hospital that carried the nickname "The Butcher Shop", but, after a stream of illnesses moved to Phoenix (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix%2C_Arizona), Arizona (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arizona) in his youth. His grandfather, Thurman Furnier, was an ordained Apostle of the Church of Jesus Christ (Bickertonite (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bickertonite)). Cooper's father, Ether Furnier, was an ordained Elder. Cooper had some distant French (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/France) Huguenot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huguenot) ancestry; the remainder of his ancestry was English (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_people).
Cooper, influenced by British Bands such as The Beatles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles), Pink Floyd (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_Floyd), The Rolling Stones (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rolling_Stones), The Who (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Who), The Kinks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Kinks) and in particular The Yardbirds (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Yardbirds).

http://www.musichelpweb.com/images/artists/10cc.jpg

http://www.newsphoto.nl/files/images/10cc_k961_hvs_1973_2-100px.preview.jpg

10cc is a British rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_rock) band (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Band_%28music%29) that achieved its greatest commercial success during the 1970s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970s).
The original four-piece lineup of 10cc boasted a wealth of talent -- there were two strong songwriting teams (although combinations of all four members collaborated on some songs), all four members were skilled multi-instrumentalists and vocalists, and each could perform convincingly as lead singers, leading to favourable comparisons with The Beatles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles).
The more 'commercial' team of Eric Stewart (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Stewart) (vocals, guitars, keyboards) and Graham Gouldman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graham_Gouldman) (bass, guitars, mandolin, zither, vocals) created some of the group's most accessible material.

Thin Lizzy "The Boys Are Back In Town" (http://selloutmusic.com/spinsouth/TheBoysAreBackInTown.mp3)

Thin Lizzy was an Irish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Ireland) Rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_music) band, formed in Dublin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dublin) in 1969. The band was led by bassist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bass_guitar), songwriter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Songwriter) and singer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singer) Phil Lynott (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Lynott). They are best-known for their 1976 song "The Boys Are Back In Town", a major international (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International) hit still played on hard rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_rock) and classic rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classic_rock) radio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio).
Like most other groups, Thin Lizzy borrowed many of their techniques from other musicians; however, Thin Lizzy is now widely recognized as one of the first hard rock bands to employ double lead guitar harmony - a technique later refined and popularized, especially by the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Wave_of_British_Heavy_Metal); groups such as Judas Priest (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judas_Priest) and Iron Maiden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Maiden). Examples include "The Boys Are Back in Town (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Boys_Are_Back_in_Town)" and "Cowboy Song" from Jailbreak (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jailbreak_%28album%29). Brian Robertson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Robertson)'s unconventional use of the wah-pedal as an extension of the instrument during soloing rather than as a purely rhymic effect, as described in the Total Accuracy video "Still in Love with the Blues" (featuring Brian Robertson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Robertson) & Stuart Bull), is also generally regarded as a pioneering, perhaps unique use of the effect.
Fighting (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fighting_%28album%29) (1975 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1975)) was their first album success, however the following album, Jailbreak (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jailbreak_%28album%29), was a smash hit thanks to the singles "Jailbreak (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jailbreak_%28song%29&action=edit)" and "The Boys Are Back in Town (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Boys_Are_Back_in_Town)", their most successful and remembered songs.

Joe Walsh (born November 20 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/November_20), 1947 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1947)) is an American (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States) guitarist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitarist) and rock musician (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_music). He came to widespread attention in 1969 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1969) after replacing Glen Schwartz (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glen_Schwartz) as lead guitarist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lead_guitar) for The James Gang (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Gang), an American power trio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_trio).
After releasing another studio album and a live set, Walsh was invited to join The Eagles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Eagles) in 1976 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1976), replacing departing guitarist Bernie Leadon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernie_Leadon). He brought a harder-edged sound to the group. As the Eagles began to decline after the release of Hotel California (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotel_California), Walsh re-ignited his solo career with the well-received discs But Seriously Folks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/But_Seriously_Folks) (1978 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1978)) (which featured his hit comic depiction of rock stardom, Life's Been Good) and There Goes the Neighborhood (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/There_Goes_the_Neighborhood) (1981 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1981)). He continued to record and release albums throughout the 1980s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980s), but musical trends had passed him by and he maintained a very low profile until the late-1990s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990s) Eagles reunion and tour. Walsh sang the US National Anthem (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Star-Spangled_Banner) at the beginning of Game 4 of the 1995 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1995) World Series (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Series).
A versatile guitarist, Walsh's abilities on acoustic, electric, and slide guitar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slide_guitar) have also made him well-regarded as a featured player or guest soloist; Walsh has recorded and performed with many other artists including Dan Fogelberg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Fogelberg), Steve Winwood (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Winwood), The Who's John Entwistle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Entwistle) and on the first two Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ringo_Starr) tours. In 2004 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004), Walsh performed live before a huge crowd at Eric Clapton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Clapton)'s Crossroads Guitar Festival in Texas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas).

http://www.cathedralstone.net/Pics/Sweet3.jpghttp://rusfil.ru/img/sweet.jpghttp://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/c2/Sweet-The-Lies-in-your-eyes.jpg

Sweet (referred to as The Sweet on singles and albums before 1976 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1976)) were a popular 1970s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970s) British rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_rock) band (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Band_%28music%29). Although Sweet were largely known for their glam rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glam_rock) image, and several hit singles - many of them being so-called teenage anthems - they also released several albums throughout a ten year career. The extent of Sweet's domination of the charts in Europe resulted in eight number one singles in Germany (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germany), with pop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_music) oriented tunes as "Co Co", "Little Willy", and "Wig Wam Bam". Sweet's success continued with more rock oriented tunes, such as "Block Buster", "Hellraiser", "Ballroom Blitz", "Teenage Rampage", and "Fox On The Run". The group had a world-wide following (achieving 18 top 20 hit singles) and were most notably popular in the UK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom), Germany (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germany), Holland (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holland) and Australia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia).

The classic Sweet line-up consisted of vocalist Brian Connolly (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Connolly), drummer Mick Tucker (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mick_Tucker), bassist Steve Priest (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Priest), and guitarist Andy Scott (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Scott_%28guitarist%29). Sweet's origins go back to 1965, with UK soul band Wainwright's Gentlemen, which included drummer Mick Tucker (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mick_Tucker) and vocalist Ian Gillan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Gillan). The group were limited to small UK clubs playing a mixture of R&B (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%26B) and psychedelia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychedelia). Gillan quit in May 1965 to join Episode Six (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Episode_Six), and later, Deep Purple (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Purple). Gillan's replacement was vocalist Brian Connolly.

It wasn't until 1985's 'Shamrock Diaries' and the songs 'Stainsby Girls' and 'Josephine', that UK audiences began to take notice of him. Follow up albums 'On The Beach' and 'Dancing With Strangers' became big UK hits before the New Light Through Old Windows compilation album in 1988 brought Rea great success, cementing his reputation as one of the UK's finest singer-songwriters. Though his British success proved difficult to sustain, he enjoyed several chart entries in the US (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States) with "Cry Me a River (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cry_Me_a_River)" and "Feelin' Alright (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Feelin%27_Alright&action=edit)". In the beginning of 1970s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970s) he had problems with drugs including alcohol that had a negative influence on his musical career. He managed to make a comeback in the 1980s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980s) and 1990s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990s) with several hits.

Foghat was an English (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/England) rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_music) band that had its greatest success in the mid- to late-1970s. Their music was straight-ahead blues-rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blues-rock), dominated by electric & electric slide guitar, and the band achieved five gold records (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_record). The group remained popular during the disco era (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disco_music), but after the emergence of punk rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punk_rock), the band no longer had a substantial audience, and they stopped performing live in 1984 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1984_in_music).

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00006C2Q9.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpghttp://www.musik.terrorverlag.de/musik/images/general/050108-Sirenia-5.jpg

Sirenia is a gothic metal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gothic_metal) band from Stavanger (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stavanger), Norway (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norway).

Sirenia combines strong melodic instrumentals, synthesizers, and metal guitars with light female vocals, male death vocals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_grunt), clean male vocals, a choir, and violins.
Most songs are atmospheric yet intense, with melodic backgrounds and interludes. The lyrics are concerned with human existence, emotion, and mental states.
Many in the genre consider the first album, At Sixes and Sevens (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=At_Sixes_and_Sevens&action=edit), a masterpiece, one that was not repeated with An Elixir for Existence (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=An_Elixir_for_Existence&action=edit). This album is also notable for concluding with a slow and melodic ballad "In Sumerian Haze", with Fabienne Gondamin (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fabienne_Gondamin&action=edit)'s delicate voice set to the sound of emotional violin playing.

Xandria is a band, founded in Bielefeld (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bielefeld), Germany, in 2000 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2000). The bands music combines elements of doom metal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doom_metal), gothic metal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gothic_metal) and symphonic metal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphonic_metal) making it hard to define exactly what music genre (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_genre) they are part of.
After various demos (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demo_%28music%29) and great success on different MP3 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP3) portals, they released their first album in 2003 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003), entitled Kill the Sun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kill_the_Sun), which reached #98 on the German music charts. The follow-up album, Ravenheart (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ravenheart) (2004 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004)), stayed on the charts for 7 weeks, reaching #36.

Pink Floyd "One Of These Days" (http://dfc.darwinia.com/dfcfilez/oneofthesedays.mp3)

http://www.lacosaweb.com/nsn/imatges/Pink%20Floyd.jpg

Pink Floyd (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_Floyd)'s sound was considerably more focused on Meddle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meddle) (1971), with the 23-minute epic "Echoes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echoes_%281971_song%29)" (sample (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/4d/Echoes.ogg) (help (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Media_help)·info (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Echoes.ogg))) taking up the second side of the LP. "Echoes" is a smooth progressive rock song with extended guitar and keyboard solos and a long segue in the middle consisting largely of synthesized whalesong (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whalesong) produced on guitar, along with samples of seagull cries, described by Waters as a "sonic poem".[20] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_Floyd#_note-10) Meddle was considered by Nick Mason to be "the first real Pink Floyd album. It introduced the idea of a theme that can be returned to."[21] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_Floyd#_note-11) The album had the sound and style of the succeeding breakthrough-era Pink Floyd albums but stripped away the orchestra that was prominent in Atom Heart Mother (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atom_Heart_Mother).[22] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_Floyd#_note-12) Meddle also included the atmospheric "One of These Days (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_of_These_Days)" (sample (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/57/One_of_These_Days.ogg)), a concert favourite featuring Nick Mason's menacing one-line vocal ("One of these days, I'm going to cut you into little pieces"), distorted and bluesy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blues) slide guitar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slide_guitar), and a melody that at one point segues into a throbbing synthetic pulse quoting the theme tune of the cult classic science fiction (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_fiction) television (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Television) show Doctor Who (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Who).

Creed is a Post-grunge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post-grunge) group that became one of the best selling rock bands of the late '90s and early 2000s. While the original grunge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grunge_music) groups were experimenting with new sounds at the time, Creed adapted grunge into a radio-friendly style, selling millions of albums with it. Despite their commercial success and widespread popularity, Creed was slammed for their formulaic sound and accused by critics of being derivative of famed Seattle grunge band Pearl Jam (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pearl_Jam), as some believe Creed lead singer Scott Stapp's vocals imitate those of Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_Vedder). Notably the band inspired a slew of copycats like Puddle of Mudd (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puddle_of_Mudd) that embraced the commercial grunge sound.

Throughout the 1990's and into the 2000's they have enjoyed major commercial popularity on alternative rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternative_rock) and mainstream rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mainstream_rock) radio. They have composed hook-laden lush melodies on top of heavy fluent guitar riffs reminiscent of classic rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classic_rock) and hard rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_rock) artists from the 70's and 80's. Some of their main influences are Elvis Presley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elvis_Presley), Elton John (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elton_John), The Cars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cars) and The Beatles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles). Some have called Collective Soul a Christian rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_rock) band, a styling the band has repeatedly denied. Deep Purple"Sail Away" (http://www.bubblegum-machine.com/sail_away.mp3)

Deep Purple 1974, David Coverdale & Glenn Hughes:

http://www.photofeatures.com/deeppurple/images/prevs/d05037a.jpg http://www.rockdetector.com/assets/img/covers/196348.jpg

The classic Deep Purple (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Purple) Mk 2 line-up continued to work and record into 1973, releasing the album Who Do We Think We Are (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who_Do_We_Think_We_Are) (1973 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1973)), featuring the hit single Woman from Tokyo, but tensions within the band were more noticeable than ever. The bad feelings culminated in Ian Gillan quitting the band after another European tour, and Roger Glover being pushed out with him. Their replacements were an unknown singer from northern England, David Coverdale (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Coverdale), and bassist Glenn Hughes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenn_Hughes), formerly of Trapeze (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trapeze_%28band%29). This new line-up continued into 1974 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1974) with the heavy blues/rock album Burn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burn_%28album%29), another highly successful release. Hughes and Coverdale added a funky R&B (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%26B)/soul (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul_music) element to the band's music, a sound that was even more apparent on the 1974 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1974) release Stormbringer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stormbringer_%28album%29). Blackmore was not happy with the results, and as a result left the band in 1975 to form his own band Rainbow (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_%28band%29).

Robert Anthony Plant (born 20 August (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/August_20) 1948 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1948), West Bromwich (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Bromwich), Staffordshire (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staffordshire)) is a British (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom) rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_and_Roll) singer famous for being the frontman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frontman) for the band Led Zeppelin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Led_Zeppelin). He is known for his powerful style with a wide vocal range.
After the band's breakup following the sudden death of drummer John Bonham (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Bonham) in 1980 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980), Plant pursued a successful solo career. Popular tracks from this period include "Big Log," "Tall Cool One," and "I Believe." In 1984 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1984), Plant formed a short-lived all-star group with Jimmy Page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Page) and Jeff Beck (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Beck) called The Honeydrippers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Honeydrippers:_Volume_One), who had a Top Ten hit with a remake of the Phil Phillips (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Phil_Phillips&action=edit)' tune, "Sea of Love (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_of_Love_%28song%29)".

Shortly after lead guitarist Dave Mustaine was fired from Metallica (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metallica) due to alcohol problems (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcoholism), drug abuse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drug_abuse) and personality conflicts (http://megadeth.rockmetal.art.pl/related_metallica.html), Mustaine, guitarist Greg Handevidt (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kublai_Khan_%28band%29) and bassist David Ellefson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Ellefson) formed Megadeth. As Mustaine himself says, "I could only focus on one thing [after being kicked out of Metallica]: I wanted blood... theirs." After searching for a vocalist and not finding what he wanted, Mustaine became the band's singer and primary lyricist, as well as the main songwriter and rhythm guitarist.

http://www.tempi-duri.it/rockprogressive/foto_emersonlakeepalmer3.jpghttp://www.progweed.net/reviews/elp/70s.jpg

Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP) was a British progressive rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_rock) group. In the 1970s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970s), they were extremely popular, selling over 30 million albums and headlining huge concerts. The ELP sound was heavily dominated by the Hammond organ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hammond_organ) and Moog synthesizer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moog_synthesizer) of the flamboyant Emerson. The band's compositions were heavily influenced by classical music (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_classical_music) in addition to jazz (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jazz) and – some say – hard rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_rock). Many of their pieces are arrangements of, or contain quotations from, classical music, and they can be said to fit into the sub-genre of symphonic rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphonic_rock) (their style came in for heavy abuse from critics; a popular joke of the time went, "How do you spell pretentious? ...ELP").

Styx is the first musical act to ever have four consecutive triple platinum albums. Through the late 1970s the band enjoyed its greatest success. By 1980, Styx had (over the course of several albums) established themselves as a positive band in terms of lyrics, criticizing unemployment ("Blue Collar Man"), consumerism ("The Grand Illusion"), and materialism ("Pieces of Eight"). As teen idols, Styx also topped magazine polls for "Most Popular Rock Band."

Their music, though starting with blues rock with an experimental flavour, has incorporated elements of classical (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_classical_music) and Celtic folk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celtic_music) music, as well as art rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_rock) and alternative rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternative_rock).

tell me more about the venue, I never been there, is it a good spot?

Nazareth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazareth_%28band%29) is an earthy and versatile British (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British) / Scottish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scotland) rock band (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_band) that had several hard rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_rock) hits, as well as scoring with the Felice and Boudleaux Bryant (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felice_and_Boudleaux_Bryant) penned ballad, "Love Hurts", in the middle of the 1970s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970s).
Nazareth was formed in 1968 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1968) in Dunfermline (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunfermline), Scotland (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scotland) by vocalist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vocalist) Dan McCafferty, guitarist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitarist) Manny Charlton, bassist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bassist) Pete Agnew, and drummer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drummer) Darrell Sweet. Nazareth's biggest album, Hair Of The Dog, was released in 1975 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1975). The title track (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Title_track) of that album (popularly, though incorrectly, known as "Now You're Messing With A Son Of A Bitch") became became a staple of 1970s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970s) rock radio. The musical peak of Nazareth was in the mid 1970s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970s), with the albums: Razamanaz (early 1973), Loud 'N' Proud (late 1973), Rampant (1974) and Hair Of The Dog (1975). The first three of these were produced by Deep Purple (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Purple) bass guitarist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bass_guitarist) Roger Glover (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Glover), the last being produced by Nazareth guitarist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitarist) Manny Charlton. All four were hard rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_rock) in style, and of a high standard. However, the next albums saw a serious change in musical direction.

http://www.dire-straits.net/direstraits.jpg

Dire Straits (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dire_Straits_%28album%29) was a British (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom) rock band (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_and_roll), formed in 1977 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1977) by Mark Knopfler (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Knopfler) (guitar and vocals), his brother David Knopfler (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Knopfler) (guitar), John Illsley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Illsley) (bass) and Pick Withers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pick_Withers) (drums), and managed by Ed Bicknell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Bicknell). Although the band was formed in an era when punk rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punk_rock) reigned, Dire Straits worked within the conventions of classic rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classic_rock), albeit with a stripped-down sound that appealed to modern audiences weary of the overproduced stadium rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stadium_rock) of the 1970s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970s) (see 1970s in music (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970s_in_music)). Unusually, in their early days Mark and David used small low wattage (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wattage) combo amps (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amplifier), allowing pub (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pub) patrons to converse while the band played. Despite this oddly self-effacing approach to rock and roll, Dire Straits soon became hugely successful with their first album going multi-platinum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_recording_sales_certification) globally.

Rainbow (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_%28band%29) was a British progressive metal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_metal)/hard rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_rock) band formed by Deep Purple (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Purple) guitarist Ritchie Blackmore (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ritchie_Blackmore) in 1975 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1975_in_music). In addition to Blackmore, the band originally consisted of former Elf (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elf_%28band%29) lead singer Ronnie James Dio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronnie_James_Dio), bassist Craig Gruber (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Craig_Gruber&action=edit), drummer Gary Driscoll (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Driscoll), and keyboardist Mickey Lee Soule (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mickey_Lee_Soule&action=edit). Blackmore fired everybody except Dio shortly after the first album was recorded and recruited drummer Cozy Powell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cozy_Powell) (formerly of the Jeff Beck Group (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Beck_Group)), bassist Jimmy Bain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Bain) and keyboard player Tony Carey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Carey). This lineup went on to record the album Rainbow Rising (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rising_%28Rainbow_album%29). The 8 minute and 26 second piece "Stargazer" is renowned for the unmatched powerful vocals of Ronnie James Dio. Its use of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra to strengthen and enrich the riffs played by the guitar, bass and keyboards in "Stargazer" (essentially, the orchestra was doubling with the keyboards) was an idea that led to the album "Rising"'s establishment as one of Rainbow's best albums, if not the best. The song worked great with Ritchie Blackmore's renaissance-style guitar work.
Over the years Rainbow went through many lineup changes.
