Rush "The Spirit Of Radio "

Rush (Permanent Waves session photo 1979)

"Permanent Waves" is the seventh studio album by the Canadian rock band Rush, released January 1, 1980 (see 1980 in music). The album was recorded at Le Studio, Morin Heights, Quebec, and was mixed at Trident Studios in London, UK.
Permanent Waves marks a distinct transition into more accessible, radio-friendly numbers and consequently, a significant expansion in the band's record sales with perennial favorites such as "The Spirit of Radio" and "Freewill" seeing quite a fair bit of radio airplay. Geddy's singing style changed, too; his range is much lower than the previous albums.

    Geddy Lee " Take Off"

Geddy Lee OC (born Gary Lee Weinrib, July 29, 1953) is a Jewish Canadian musician who is the vocalist, bassist, and keyboardist for the progressive rock group Rush. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Lee grew up as the son of Polish Jewish refugees who had both been survivors of Nazi concentration camps Dachau and Bergen-Belsen. Lee's stage name (and later legal name) "Geddy" was inspired by the heavily-accented pronunciation of his given first name "Gary" by his mother. In 2004, Canadian Jewish News featured Lee's reflections upon his mother's experiences and his own Jewish heritage. [1]
Geddy was married to Nancy Young in 1976, and has a son named Julian and a daughter named Kyla Avril.
An award-winning musician, Lee's style, technique, and skill on the bass guitar have proven very influential in the rock and heavy metal genres, inspiring such players as Steve Harris of Iron Maiden [2], John Myung of Dream Theater [3], Les Claypool of Primus [4], Cliff Burton of Metallica [5], among others. However, a common criticism within the music community is Lee's high pitched vocal style. While less influential, it is nonetheless distinctive. One Rolling Stone critic opined a negative review in the Rolling Stone Album Guide that Geddy Lee's voice sounded like Donald Duck on helium.[6]
In addition to his composing, arranging, and performing duties for Rush, Lee has produced albums for various other bands, including Rocket Science. Lee's first solo effort, My Favorite Headache, was released in 2000. Along with his colleagues Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart, Lee was made an Officer of the Order of Canada on May 9, 1996. The trio were the first rock musicians so honored.

    Rush " Bravado"

Roll the Bones is the fourteenth studio album by Canadian rock band Rush, released in 1991 (see 1991 in music). The album also won the 1992 Juno for best album cover design.
Roll the Bones marks further change from the 80s Rush to the 90s Rush. The roles have generally been reversed; guitar is beginning to creep to the front of the song arrangements, while bursts of keyboard and organ are played in the background. "Dreamline" and "Roll the Bones" were popular radio staples of the early 90s, while "Where's My Thing?" became the band’s third instrumental. The musical style of Roll the Bones paved the way for the "alternative" style of 1993’s Counterparts.
Roll the Bones became Rush's first US Top 5 album since 1981's Moving Pictures peaking at #3 on The Billboard 200. The album went Double Platinum according to Atlantic Records although the RIAA has it listed at Platinum.

Def Leppard "Poor Some Sugar on Me"

"Pour Some Sugar On Me" is a song recorded by British hard rock band Def Leppard in 1987 from the album Hysteria. It reached Number 2 on the US singles chart, became an MTV classic, and is generally regarded as their signature song.
Although the band was nearing the end of recording sessions for Hysteria in 1986, producer Mutt Lange felt that the album was still lacking a song that would have an appeal beyond the hard rock fans who'd bought Pyromania. That song came to him during a bathroom break. Singer Joe Elliott was jamming with a riff he'd come up with recently on the guitar, and Lange suggested that the riff be taken a step further. It was a risky move, as everyone in the band had been worn out by the neverending sessions.
By Def Leppard standards, the song was developed and recorded quickly, within two weeks (in contrast to "Animal", which took almost three years) and included as the 12th track on Hysteria. "Sugar" was released as the second single from the album in the UK, where it reached the Top 20. Its original video had a short butch woman demolishing the house (Mount Merrion House, in Dublin) where the band is playing. But this was deemed not marketable for American audiences, so the song was relegated to a popular track at live shows and rock radio in the US.
