Carlos Santana "Samba Pa Ti"



Carlos Umberto Santana de Barragan - Santana (born 20 July 1947) is a Mexican Grammy Award-winning musician and Latin-rock guitarist.
He became famous in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his band, the Santana Blues Band, which created a highly successful blend of salsa, rock, blues, and jazz fusion. Their sound featured his often high-pitched and clean guitar lines set against Latin instrumentation such as timbales and congas. Santana continued to work in these forms over the following decades, and experienced a sudden resurgence of popularity and critical acclaim in the late 1990s. Over his career he has sold an estimated 80 million albums worldwide.

Asia "Heat Of The Moment "



Asia is an arena rock/progressive rock group. It was formed in 1981 as a supergroup, with former members of Yes, King Crimson, Emerson Lake and Palmer, and The Buggles. Asia's eponymous debut album enjoyed considerable commercial success, spending nine weeks at number one in the U.S. album chart. The singles "Only Time Will Tell" and "Heat of the Moment" became huge Top 40 hits, with the latter cracking the Top Five, and remaining a stadium favourite at U.S. sporting events.

Nazareth "Please Don't Judas Me"



Hair of the Dog is a 1975 album, by the Scottish rock band Nazareth. It was released on A&M Records. It was Nazareth's first big hit album (aside from the minor success of Razamanaz), including classics such as "Love Hurts" (on the North-American version it replaced the original "Guilty"), "Hair of the Dog", "Beggar's Day" and "Please Don't Judas Me". The title song is sometimes mistaken to be an AC/DC song because of vocal similarities. The compact disc version released in the 2000s, features extra tracks. The album was recorded at Escape Studios, in Kent, United Kingdom and is the band's biggest selling album to date, having sold two million copies worldwide.

Dire Straits "So Far Away"



Brothers in Arms was one of the first albums to be directed at the CD market, being a full digital recording (DDD). It was also released on vinyl and cassette. This was also the first album to sell one million copies in the CD format. Indeed, when the disc was released, it was said that more people owned a copy of the CD than owned CD players. A Rykodisc staffer would subsequently write, "[In 1985 we] were fighting to get our CDs manufactured because the entire worldwide manufacturing capacity was overwhelmed by demand for a single rock title (Dire Straits’ Brothers in Arms)."

It has been extensively used as background music in television and films.

• The 25th episode of Miami Vice, called "Out Where the Buses Don't Run"; virtually the entire song was used.
• The war drama McBain, about Colombia, begins with the song.
• The Canadian comedy-drama Due South, set during a thunderstorm.
• The season finale of the second (2000-2001) season of the American political drama The West Wing (episode title: "Two Cathedrals"). The song played through the final few minutes of the episode as President Bartlet was about to reveal to the public whether he would seek re-election. A thunderstorm was again in the background.
• The 2001 movie Spy Game, starring Brad Pitt and Robert Redford. The song played during the scene in which Pitt's character gets off a train in Germany and meets Redford's character and his wife.
• During the Croatian war of Independence, one of the most famous video footages of the war was Banijska ratna praskozorja (Banija war dawns) featuring the "Brothers in Arms" melody in the background. The footage was made by a famous TV journalist, Gordan Lederer, showing dawn patrol of Croatian soldiers in the morning mist. At the end of the footage, which is very melancholic and much of it is in slow motion, Gordan Lederer was shot by a Serb sniper.

Led Zeppelin "Black Dog"



"Black Dog" is a song by British rock band Led Zeppelin, which was released as the lead-off track of their untitled fourth album in 1971. It was released as a single in the US and Australia with Misty Mountain Hop on the B-side, and reached #15 on Billboard and #11 in Australia.
The sounds at the beginning are those of Jimmy Page warming up his electric guitar. He called it "waking up the army of guitars"—which are multitrack recorded in unison with electric bass guitar to provide the song's signature riff.
Led Zeppelin bass player John Paul Jones, who is credited with writing the main riff, got the idea for "Black Dog" after hearing Muddy Waters' experimental psychedelic-blues album, Electric Mud. He wanted to try "electric blues with a rolling bass part." The start-and-stop a cappella verses were inspired by Fleetwood Mac's 1969 song "Oh Well."
John Bonham's drumming was patterned after the riffs on Little Richard's "Keep a Knockin'". Despite its seeming simplicity, the song features a complex, shifting time signature that the band has sometimes claimed was intended to thwart cover bands from playing the song.

The song's title came from a nameless black dog that wandered around the Headley Grange studios during recording. It has little to do with the song lyrics, which are about desperate desire for a woman's love and the happiness resulting thereby.
Jimmy Page decided to record the guitar directly into a 1176 limiter preamp (manufactured by Universal Audio), distort the stages of it, and then send that to a normally operating limiter. In other words, no guitar amplifier was used in the recording process. The sound is very twangy, but in a hard-edge sort of way. Similar techniques were used in the song 'No Quarter'...

Placebo ""Follow The Cops Back Home" "



Placebo is a rock band founded in 1994. They enjoyed early success in Britain due to the high interest in rock music at the time, sparked in particular by Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins.

Meds is Placebo's fifth album. The album was released in most countries on March 13, 2006, although it was released three days earlier in Australia (standard and special editions) and New Zealand (standard edition only). Illegal copies had previously been available on the Internet since January 17, 2006. "Because I Want You", released on March 6, is the first UK single from the album. The first single outside of the UK is "Song To Say Goodbye", released on the same date. The next single from Meds is "Infra-Red", released on June 19th 2006 in the UK. "Infra-Red" has already received significant exposure in the US; it was within the 50 most-played alternative rock songs as of mid-May. The following (and likely last) single is "Meds".

Orson "No Tomorrow"



Orson are an American rock band from Hollywood, California who formed in 2000. Orson formed in 2000 around a core of Jason Pebworth and guitarist George Astasio. The group took its name from Hollywood legend Orson Welles.
When describing the sound of Orson, the band's vocalist Jason Pebworth said that they played "guitar rock" but that they had "that rump-shaking quality to our rhythm section, like an R&B feel." He also cites the influences for his music as being wide ranging, including Broadway music and Black Sabbath. Others included music he frequently heard while growing up in Texas, notably soft rock from the likes of Hall & Oates, The Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan, Memphis and Philly soul.
During his college years, Nirvana inspired Jason to think about being in a band of his own. Obsessions with Jeff Buckley's Grace and Radiohead's OK Computer followed. Now he states that "As a band, we're into Led Zeppelin, Flaming Lips, Beck, Björk." He also confesses to being an ELO fan



"No Tomorrow" is a song by Hollywood, California-based rock band Orson and is featured on their 2006 debut album, Bright Idea. It was released as the lead single from that album in late February 2006, eventually climbing to the top of the UK Singles Chart three weeks after its release.
