Brothers in Arms is the fifth studio album by British rock band Dire Straits, released in 1985. The album has sold over 25 million copies worldwide. In 2003, the album was ranked number 351 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

Black Sabbath "Heaven And Hell"





Black Sabbath's album (and first with singer Ronnie James Dio), Heaven and Hell, proved to be a revitalising success for the band with the band's highest charting since 1975's Sabotage. It was on this tour that Dio popularised the mano cornuto hand gesture, which has since become a symbol of heavy metal music in general. The album also marked the inclusion of Quartz's guitarist-turned-keyboardist Geoff Nicholls (Nicholls has not been consistently credited as an official member, and has often been forced to play live shows from backstage for supposed aesthetic purposes, but he has co-written many songs and has stayed with Black Sabbath through all subsequent incarnations).

"Heaven and Hell" – 6:56 was the title track to Black Sabbath's 9th studio album, Heaven and Hell. It was written mainly by Tony Iommi, but as with almost all Black Sabbath albums, credit is given to the entire band. The lyrics were written entirely by then-newcomer Ronnie James Dio.

Black Sabbath "You Won't Change Me"


Technical Ecstasy is the 1976 album from heavy metal band Black Sabbath. During the time period in which this album was made, the band was heavily into drugs.

Technical Ecstasy continued the band's separation from its signature doom and darkness that had been such a trademark of the band's early career. While the album's lyrics dealt with topics such as drug dealers, prostitution, and transvestites, the music itself was seldom dark, and tracks like "Rock 'n' Roll Doctor" and "It's Alright", (sung by drummer Bill Ward--a decision supported by Ozzy Osbourne), were very different from Black Sabbath's earlier recordings.

Led Zeppelin "The Ocean" (live)



Houses of the Holy is an album by Led Zeppelin released by Atlantic Records on March 28, 1973 (see 1973 in music).
This album was a stylistic turning point in Led Zeppelin's career. Guitar riffs became heavier, losing some of their blues influences, and the lyrics turn towards mysticism to a greater degree.In 2003, the album was ranked number 149 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.



"The Ocean" is a song by Led Zeppelin, from their 1973 album Houses of the Holy. "The Ocean" refers to the sea of fans seen from the stage; this song was always dedicated to the audience at concerts. Drummer John Bonham counted in the song on the original album version, saying "we’ve done four already but now we’re steady and then they went: One, two, three, four" This count-in was absent during early live performances of the song, but was present during later performances, as well as Bonham harmonizing with Robert Plant during the "la la" section.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers "Mary Jane's Last Dance"



"Mary Jane's Last Dance" is a song by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. It was recorded while Petty was recording his Wildflowers album, and was produced by Rick Rubin. This song was first released as part of the album "Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Greatest Hits" in 1993. [1]
The video made for this song featured Kim Basinger as a corpse stolen by Petty which he dresses as a bride.
The song is recorded in A minor and has a harmonica solo played on a G harmonica in third position with 4 draw as the note of resolution.

Queen "Innuendo"



Beginning in the late 1980s, rumours started spreading in the tabloid press and elsewhere that Freddie Mercury was suffering from AIDS. Although they turned out to be true, Mercury flatly denied these rumours. However, the band decided to keep making albums free of conflict and differences; starting with The Miracle and continuing with 1991's Innuendo. Although his health was deteriorating, Mercury was courageous in handling his contributions, working in a creative fervor. Highlights of Innuendo were the epic title track, the hard-rocking powerhouse "Headlong", the quirky, synthesizer-heavy, pop-styled "I'm Going Slightly Mad", and the reflective anthems "The Show Must Go On" and "These Are the Days of Our Lives".



Innuendo(#1 Finland, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland (2x platinum), UK (platinum); #2 Austria, #8 Norway, #13 Japan, #30 US (gold)) is a 1991 album by English rock band Queen. It was the band's fourteenth studio album and the last to be released while lead singer Freddie Mercury was still alive. The album was praised by critics and fans as one of the strongest albums of Queen's later career. It reached number one on the U.K. album charts (2 weeks) as well as in the Netherlands (4 weeks), in Switzerland (8 weeks), Germany (6 weeks), and Italy. It peaked at number thirty in the United States. The album would be the first Queen album to go Gold in the US upon its release since 1984's The Works.



Innuendo is a song by British rock band Queen. It is the opening track on the album of the same name. Although the song is credited as being written by Queen, it was written by Freddie Mercury with contributions from Roger Taylor on lyrics. It is one of Queen's longer songs at six and a half minutes. The song went to #1 in the UK.
The song itself is heavily influenced by Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir". Also featured is a flamenco guitar solo performed by Yes-guitarist Steve Howe.

Pink Floyd "Have A Cigar"



Wish You Were Here is a concept album by Pink Floyd, widely regarded as one of their greatest albums. It was recorded at Abbey Road Studios between January and July, 1975 and released on September 15, 1975 (see 1975 in music).

"Have a Cigar" is the third track on Pink Floyd's 1975 album Wish You Were Here. It opened side two of the original LP; on the CD version it follows "Welcome to the Machine". Like "Welcome to the Machine", the song's music and lyrics were written by Roger Waters in critique of hypocrisy and greed within the music business. The music itself is more straightforwardly rock-orientated than the rest of the album, beginning with a churning riff played on electric guitar and bass. The track is filled out with additional guitar, electric piano and synthesizer parts to create a funk rock texture.
"Have A Cigar" climaxes with its blistering guitar solo, which is interrupted by a synthesizer filter-sweep sound effect as the music reduces in volume to tinny, AM radio-like levels. Some have speculated that this represents the music's transformation into a worthless, mass-marketed product — which would be almost prophetic, since the track received heavy radio play as a single. Finally, the song ends with the sound of a radio being dialed off-station; this effect is used as a transition to the following song, the album's title track: "Wish You Were Here".

The Rolling Stones "Angie"




Goats Head Soup is an album by The Rolling Stones released in 1973. Recorded as the follow-up to 1972's critically acclaimed Exile on Main St., the album marks The Rolling Stones' entry into what most critics consider a lean period.

The album is best known for its lead single, "Angie". Although it was a departure for The Rolling Stones as a ballad, it nonetheless sailed to #1 in the US and became a worldwide hit. Contrary to popular belief, the song was not about David Bowie's first wife Angela, but Richards' lover Anita Pallenberg. Many years after its release, Keith Richard's daughter with Pallenberg, Dandelion, would rename herself Angela after the song.

Uriah Heep "Sunrise"


The Magician's Birthday is the fifth album released by British rock band Uriah Heep.
In spite of their huge popularity in Britain and continental Europe, Uriah Heep was never able to break into the American market in a big way, with the exception of three hit songs, "Easy Livin' " from the 1972 album Demons and Wizards, "Sweet Lorraine" from the 1972 album The Magician's Birthday, and "Stealin' " from the 1973 release Sweet Freedom.

Peter Gabriel "Don't Give Up "





Although early on he achieved critical success and some commercial success (e.g. "Games Without Frontiers" from his third album and "Shock the Monkey" from his fourth), Gabriel achieved his greatest popularity with songs from the 1986 So album, highlights being the 60's-tinged pop and suggestiveness of "Sledgehammer" (a #1 smash in the US, ironically knocked off the top by Gabriel's old band Genesis's "Invisible Touch"), ""Big Time", the tear-jerking ballad "Don't Give Up" with Kate Bush about the devastation of unemployment and love song "In Your Eyes." ("In Your Eyes" had a conspicuous inclusion in the 1989 film...



"Don't Give Up" is a duet by recorded by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush for Gabriel's album So. The single version spent eleven weeks in the UK Top 75 chart in 1986. It describes the despair of a man who feels that the economic system has no place for him, and the support and wise counsel sung in the refrain by Bush. The video, by Godley & Creme apparently consisted of a single take of the singers in an embrace, as the sun enters total eclipse and re-emerges.
