Uriah Heep "Free Me"



Innocent Victim (1977) is the eleventh album released by British rock band Uriah Heep. Following the 1976 replacement of vocalist David Byron with John Lawton (formerly of the German band Lucifer's Friend), Uriah Heep turned away from fantasy-oriented lyrics and multi-part compositions back toward a more straightforward hard rock sound typical of the era.

Paul McCartney & Wings "Band On The Run"



Wings was a rock music band led by Paul McCartney, formed a couple of years after the dissolution of The Beatles. It achieved widespread popularity during the 1970s despite continual personnel changes.

Band on the Run is an album by Wings, released in 1973. McCartney's fifth album (or Paul McCartney & Wings' third), it became his most successful album since the demise of The Beatles and the most celebrated of his solo albums. It was 1974's top-selling album, and revitalized McCartney's critical standing.

Deep Purple "Stormbringer"



Stormbringer is the ninth studio album by Deep Purple, released in December 1974. On this album, the soul and funk elements that were only hinted at on Burn are much more prominent. This shift in direction alienated some fans as well as Ritchie Blackmore, who departed the band not long after Stormbringer was released.

Hughes and Coverdale added a funky R&B/soul element to the band's music, a sound that was even more apparent on the 1974 release Stormbringer. Blackmore was not happy with the results, and as a result left the band in 1975 to form his own band with Ronnie James Dio and his band Elf, called Rainbow.

Eric Clapton " I Shot The Sheriff"



Eric Patrick Clapton, Eric Clapton, CBE (born March 30, 1945), nicknamed "Slowhand", is a Grammy Award winning English guitarist, singer and composer, who is one of the most respected and influential musicians of the rock-era, garnering an unprecedented three inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Clapton is widely considered to be one of the greatest and most influential guitarists in popular music.

In 1975, partnered with Boyd-Harrison (they would not actually marry until 1979) and free of heroin (although starting to drink heavily), Clapton put together a strong new touring band that included Radle, Miami guitarist George Terry, drummer Jamie Oldaker and vocalists Yvonne Elliman and Marcy Levy (later better known as Marcella Detroit of 1980s pop duo Shakespear's Sister). With this band Clapton recorded 461 Ocean Boulevard (1974), an album with the emphasis on songs rather than musicianship; the cover-version of "I Shot The Sheriff" was a major hit and was important in bringing reggae and the music of Bob Marley to a wider audience. The band toured the world and subsequently released the 1975 live LP, E.C. Was Here.

Eric Clapton "Cocaine"



"Cocaine" is a song written by Oklahoma singer-songwriter J.J. Cale, and most notably covered by Eric Clapton on his 1977 album Slowhand.
Contrary to popular belief, ”Cocaine” is an anti-drug song. Eric Clapton: ”It’s no good to write a deliberate anti-drug song and hope that it will catch. Because the general thing is that people will be upset by that. It would disturb them to have someone else shoving something down their throat. So the best thing to do is offer something that seems ambiguous — that on study or on reflection actually can be seen to be ‘anti’— which the song ”Cocaine” is actually an anti-cocaine song. If you study it or look at it with a little bit of thought… from a distance… or as it goes by… it just sounds like a song about cocaine. But in actual fact, it is quite cleverly anti-cocaine.” (From The Best of Everything Show, with Dan Neer). Over the years, Clapton has added the lyrics 'that dirty cocaine' in live shows to underline the anti-drug message of the song, but also to presumably show his present antipathy to cocaine use.
Clapton has also commented, ”…that’s an anti-drug-song. The fans only listen to the refrain: ‘She don’t lie, she don’t lie, cocaine.’ But it says, ‘If you wanna get down, down on the ground, cocaine.’ It’s sad how young people destroy themselves with drugs. I hate listening to my old records, which I did stoned or drunk.

Dire Straits "Single Handed Sailor"



Dire Straits was a British rock band, formed in 1977 by David Knopfler (guitar), his brother Mark Knopfler (guitar and vocals), John Illsley (bass) and Pick Withers (drums), and managed by Ed Bicknell. Although the band was formed in an era when punk rock reigned, Dire Straits worked within the conventions of classic rock, albeit with a stripped-down sound that appealed to modern audiences weary of the overproduced stadium rock of the 1970s (see 1970s in music). Unusually, in their early days Mark and David used small low wattage combo amps, allowing pub patrons to converse while the band played. Despite this oddly self-effacing approach to rock and roll, Dire Straits soon became hugely successful with their first album going multi-platinum globally.



Communiqué is the second album by British rock band Dire Straits.
It was remastered and released with the rest of the Dire Straits catalog on September 19, 2000.

"Rock and Roll All Nite" is a song by KISS, originally released on their 1975 album Dressed to Kill. The studio version of the song peaked at #68 on the Billboard singles chart, besting the band's previous charting single, "Kissin' Time" (#83). A subsequent live version released as a single in October 1975 reached #12, the first of six Top 20 songs for KISS in the 1970s.[1] Since then, it has become KISS's most identifiable song, and has served as one of the group's closing concert numbers in almost every concert since 1976...
