elfy, I will not debate this with you...by that logic, Amex was holding you hostage, not the shop, OK? You could have always resolved the double pay situation with AmEx later. Ask for a cash receipt, and a note from the shop that the transaction did not go through, or something. It was NOT - I repeat, NOT - reasonable to think you were not free to leave.

Not really, I don't see it this way. If they don't like you credit card for some reason, they have a right to refuse the tender. I really don't see why they MUST accept your AmEx, esp. given that their machine got broken.

sure they could have, but the important thing is that they did not have to...all they are guilty of is poor customer service, nothing more

well, I am sorry to say, but that's entirely YOUR PROBLEM...YOU had a problem coming back there, but you definitely had a choice, didn't you? You know, there are many unpleasant things in life - like going to a dentist - but I'd never claim my dentist held me against my will just because I really don't want to go back there again

same here - you'll think it is nothing until it happens to you
The woman who sued McDonalds got third degree burns on her body. That's a little more than "having to pee and being hungry".
I am not trying to diminish your pain here. I am sure you were very frustrated by the whole incident. However, this is NOT false imprisonment. You could physically leave. Even if you had to leave your car there for the night, you could've left. You could've paid cash and then made them refund the money to your credit card. I understand your were inconvenienced, but there is no lawsuit here.

Эльфи, самое лучшее, в смысле принесущее $$$, что ты можешь сделать это написать [letter to the company and request to refund you money for that shitty service] и отослать это письмо с уведомлением о вручении в компанию, можно также позвонить в [AmEx] и сообщить о том что ты хочешь получить $$$ взад за хреновый сервис
а судиться из-за такого это [waste of time, money, lot's of aggravation for nothing]
никакого [false imprisonment] там и в помине не было
абсолютно согласна с Красотой во всех ее постах в теме :34:

First Elfy wanted a lawyer opinion, nothing else worked.
Then she wanted a second lawyer's opinion
Now Elfy will want a third lawyer's opinion. :D

AmEx поттвердили, что transaction was approved and they gave them the approval number, у шопа не работал принтер по какой-то причине (they were offline or something) и сам бумажный receipt не печатался, каким образом ето вина AmEx или моя? :rtyu:

То, что у шопа не работал credit card reader ещё говорит о том, что они скорее всего увиливают от уплаты налогов. Кстати какой они национальности, с акцентом говорили?
