same here - you'll think it is nothing until it happens to you
Trust me, lot's of things have happened to me. But I'm still alive. ;)

Just admit that you want the money. ;) You think that if that lady who sued McDonalds got some, you deserve some too? It happens very rarely, so your chances are slim.

I guess for you to fully comprehend how it felt you would have to actually be present there
THEY made a huge deal out of it and made me perceive that leaving would result in very unpleasant consequences for me

my example was just a response to your "big deal out of nothing"
believe me, getting money from them was the least of my concern for me then, and now, as well
however, I still feel very indignified, humiliated, and treated unfairly

Do you have a head on your shoulders? Do you believe everything people say? I don't need to be present to know that I can leave any time I feel like it. As my friend Judge Judy would say, you don't get compensated for stupidity :(

I wrote that the money had been already taken out of my credit card which was confirmed by the AmEx rep
why would I pay them double?
Secondly, it is my choice how to pay - if they advertise credit card option on their entrance door, then they are supposed to accept them and it is their problem that their machine malfunctioned
they could have just told me to come the next day to just confirm that they did get the money from Amex (they had my full name, address and phone; besides, I was their regular customer until today)
the entire environment was out of hand hostile - no, they did not chain me to the door, however...
I did not want to leave to go back to that horrid place again in the morning, so I wanted my car, all the receipts for the repairs, old parts and keys right there and then not to have to ever return to that again

Smth like that happened to me too, I was driving pretty fast in the middle of nowhere and saw a cop, all I experienced at that time was shock, emotional anguish, indignity, and physical pain ( I actually did have a headache). this is the first time I found myself in a situation like this (I’ve never been stopped by a cop before) so at first I did not even know how to react so I kept driving, I figured I’d take an exit and stop there, there were no exists for miles…by the time I took an exit there were two police car waiting for me there….

So I almost got a police chase ticket, I was lucky though, he forgave me I got a speeding one though (:

    ignorance excuses no one ;)

BUT in this country you can win pretty much anything...

    Good luck! :D
