No, you dont need intent for defamation, but in their lawsuite they allwged IIED among others. That's why i asked where's there intent or duty ( for actions based in negligence, like constitutional defemation)

Did they allege IIED against the administrators / moderators of the site, or just against the individual users? (Sorry, I didn't have time to read the whole thing)

Against "defendants", so i assume all def's.

They could have different causes of action against different defendants. I agree with you that it would be completely ridiculous to hold the site liable for IIED. I do, however, see a possible defamation case.
