The three primary divisions of Christianity are Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, and Protestantism.[28]:14[206] There are other Christian groups that do not fit neatly into one of these primary categories.[207
The Nicene Creed is "accepted as authoritative by the Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, and major Protestant churches."[208] There is a diversity of doctrines and practices among groups calling themselves Christian. These groups are sometimes classified under denominations, though for theological reasons many groups reject this classification system.[209]
Another distinction that is sometimes drawn is between Eastern Christianity and Western Christianity.
