OK...a yeast infection occurs when the acid balance is disturbed in the vagina. Candida Albicans is present in the vaginal flora, but overgrows when the environment is right. This may occur for several reasons...including sexual intercourse, frequent douching, poor hygeine, injury, poor immune status...such as HIV.
In addition to stopping any kind of douching! or panty liners...etc. I would advise your friend to eat yougurt with probiotic supplementation. If the yeast infections still recur...further testing may be warranted.
Burning on urination, increased frequency, urgency and the feeling of not being able to empty the bladder are all common in a Urinary Tract Infection, which is caused by bacteria...not a yeast and must be approached differently.
