1. Jacques Derrida is not fiction, it's philosophy. although he's written on a variety of topics. Basically the main idea of what he wrote is that meaning does not exist in and of itself as a separate entity. It is derived from text.
2. Hunter Thompson - his major work is Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Many people've read, few've understood. Most people simply watched the movie with Johnny Depp and Benicio del Toro which is very good but far inferior compared to the book. I've read most of his stuff, starting with Hell's Angels, I'd heard about it years before still in Moscow. The political stuff is mostly magazine fodder, "zakazukha" for mainstram magazines. Songs of the Doomed is important and profound.
