According to BGR, the first 4G smartphone, the HTC Thunderbolt, will be released the 24th of February, which may very well be bad news to those expecting to have it by the 14th, which is what past rumors confirmed. If waiting ten more days to get the device is not a problem, the next news might be. The “PRICE” is not in caps just for excitement, but because a leaked image of what is supposed to be Best Buy's internal website for the HTC Thunderbolt claims that this device will be priced at $749.99, which is a BIG number.
Verizon'z 4G speed may definitely be exciting, but is it worth paying so much for the device? Especially considering that the specs on the Thunderbolt are not that impressive compared to other phones out there, it does have 4G, but the rest is pretty much standard, and it even lacks a dual-core processor.
The image does say “Average Retail Price,” which may mean that the price could be lower, so lets hope the horizon looks different on the 24th, or else it can be expected that this device will not get many sells. If you still do not want to live without this new toy? Your Android Examiner would advice you to buy it on contract, which is rumored to give it a price of $249.99, making it much more accessible.
What is your opinion? Will you pay this much money to have the newest devices on your hands? $750 for the Thunderbolt? $800 for the Xoom? Let us know what you think, and if you plan on paying such money for the new devices.
