To whom it may concern:
I was admitted to PhD program in Linguistics in Penn State University (Pennsylvania) and I am applying for J-1 visa. I started my studies and work as a TA in August 2008 as a J-2 Dependent of Exchange Visitor’s student. My status is sponsored by New York University where my husband, Victor Archavski, is a J1 doctorate student. Now I need to change to my J1 status sponsored by Penn State University. I am arriving to Moscow for one week break from school and plan to return to Penn State on November, 29th. Could you please arrange a visa interview for me for Monday, November 24th so that I will not discontinue my study and work as a TA?
Since I have to mail all the documents I am attaching the copies of the documents. I’ll have all the originals with me on the day of the interview. Here is the list of the documents attached in the order of importance.
- Application for visa: DS 156 and DS 158 forms
- DS2019 form sponsored by Penn State university (new status)
- Initial offer of admission and teaching assistantship dated by March 4, 2008.
- Updated financial information from the department dated October 7, 2008.
- Enrollment verification letter showing that I am currently enrolled in the PhD in Applied Linguistics program
- Bank statement showing joint account with my husband.
- DS2019 form sponsored by New York University verifying my current dependent status
- Copy of my passport and current J2 Visa
- Copy of my MA diploma in Applied Linguistics from Montclair State University
- Copy of my BA diploma from Maimonides State Academy, Moscow, Russia
- Copies of my husband’s documents
After completing my PhD I plan to return to Moscow.
Thank you,
Ekaterina
