The Storage Support function provides support for all of the storage platforms in use in the firm. The stability of these platforms is vital to the smooth running of the business. Proactive management, capacity planning and root cause analysis are fundamental to the continuous improvement of our technology platform and consequently to the business bottom line. People are expected to own problems, take responsibility for their systems and their actions and to share in the commitment to deliver excellent service to the business. Team members are all enthusiastic and committed and have the flexibility to accommodate extended hours during the week and at weekends when necessary.


Main Job Function

The SMA’s are responsible for delivering the day to day storage service and Storage deployment work

Main Duties & Responsibilities

 The Storage Administrator will ensure Service Levels are met and where necessary vendors and other support groups are managed in line with agreed to documented procedures to ensure problems are resolved.
 A Storage Administrator will ensure communication is maintained with client groups and other support groups to ensure clear communication regarding the service offerings, scheduled change and problem management.
 Processes
 Will follow and maintain processes to ensure consistent delivery of the service.
 Backup Scheduling and Execution; Backup Reporting
 Performance Management; Problem Management; Problem Determination
 Systems Management
 Provisioning/Allocations; De-Allocations
 Change Implementation
 Vendor Management
 SLO Reporting and Management
 Power Downs/Ups
 DR Invocation/Testing
 Configuration Management

Experience Required:

5 years IT experience (of which not less than 3 in storage management).
A level of technical competence to act as a reference point in at least ONE storage related technical area, a level of team leader competence to act as a primary point of contact for the team.

Experience Preferred:

 Hands-on experience of the following tools is desirable:
 REMEDY
 ITO
 Tivoli SRM
 MS Power point

Skills / Aptitude Required

 MS office

 Minimum of 3 years experience in Storage Area Networks, with experience in:
o EMC Symmetrix/DMX; EMC Clariion; EMC Centera
o McData (Connectrix) Switches
o Zoning Techniques
o SAN Management Tools
o Problem Determination in a SAN environment
And, or:
 Minimum of 3 years experience in Network Attached Storage, with experience in:
o Network Appliance Filers
o Ontap
o DFM
o Symantec Virus Scanning
o Acopia
And
 Minimum of 3 years experience in Data Backup and Archive with experience in:
o Tivoli Storage Manager
o Network Appliance SnapMirror
o EMC Timefinder; EMC Navisphere; EMC SRDF
And or:
 Hands-on experience at either System Administrator or Database Analyst level with at least 1 of the following operating systems:
o Solaris
o HP-UX
o NT4 & Windows/2000
o VMS
o Linux
o The following personal skill will be necessary:
o Strong communication skills
o Basic presentation skills
o Excellent time management
o Work well under pressure


Skills / Aptitude Preferred

 To be a self starter and to be able to work well under pressure.
 To be confident in dealing with technical issues and have the ability to communicate the detail to local and the global team

 To have good inter-personal skills and to be dynamic and upbeat.
