Zdravstvuite!

I am writing to inform you about a new and first-of-its-kind organization in the U.S. of attorneys from Russia and other Eastern European countries. While there are quite a few Eastern European and Russian-speaking attorneys across the country, there has been remarkably little organization up to this point.

Therefore, we have decided to form the Eastern European Bar Association. The association's website is located at www.slavicbar.com. There has been so much interest in this project in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, Southern California and New York that we have already scheduled our first meeting. We plan to expand and open chapters in Southern California and New York as well.

In addition to serving as a vehicle through which Russian and other Eastern European attorneys can connect, the organization will provide a forum in which to address legal issues relevant to Russian and other Eastern European communities in the United States.

Please pass on the word to any attorneys you think might be interested.

Vsego dobrogo,
Eastern European Bar Association

Same as any other Bar Association, I suppose. I actually think this sounds like a good idea.

I mean, sure, i will join but what is the point of this organization? There's maby 100 Russian lawyers all over US. That is the purpose of this organization?

There's really not that many, plus for the looks of things it's primarily a collection of russian speakers.

however, a 100 is rather very small number...

and i think, it only your opinion... may be that is true, may be not...

There is definitely more than 100 in the LA area alone. There is a Bar Association out there for just about every imaginable language/ethnic group. We might as well have an Eastern European one.

I cant argue, because i really dont know the total number of Russians in this profession, im talking about for example, russian-owned or controlled firms. not that many:D

No, i realise that, but what's the purpose, the goal of such assosiation? What is the agenda? If it's just another place to pay membership dues, im out.

But if it's a place where 2-3 a year we get together and have dinner, im in like flynn. Errol, that is;)
