Kylie Ann Minogue (born May 28, 1968) is an Australian singer-songwriter and occasional actress. Minogue rose to prominence in the late 1980s, as a result of her role in the Australian television soap opera Neighbours, before commencing her career as a pop recording artist.

Signed to a contract by British songwriters and producers Stock, Aitken & Waterman, she achieved a string of hit records throughout the world, but her popularity began to decline by the early 1990s, leading her to part company from Stock, Aitken & Waterman in 1992. For several years she attempted to establish herself as an independent performer and songwriter, distancing herself from her earlier work. Her projects were widely publicised, but her albums failed to attract a substantial audience and resulted in the lowest sales of her career.

Johnny Hates Jazz was an English band formed in 1986 by Clark Datchler (vocals, piano), Calvin Hayes (keyboards), and American-born Mike Nocito (bass). Named after a friend who, literally, hated jazz, Johnny Hates Jazz released their first single, "Me and My Foolish Heart," on RAK Records that year. After searching for a major-label record deal they landed one towards the end of 1986 with Virgin Records after a gig at, ironically enough, a jazz club. The group's debut single for Virgin, "Shattered Dreams," became a monster success in 1987. Datchler left in 1989 and was replaced by Phil Thornalley. A month before the release of their second album Tall Stories the band was involved in a serious car crash which left Hayes in a body cast for over a year. The band lost momentum and eventually split in 1995.

U 96 is a dance music project formed by German producers Alex Christensen, Ingo Hauss, Helmut Hoikins, and Hajo Panarinfo, known for numerous 1990s Eurodance classics.

The name comes from the well-known movie Das Boot about the German submarine U 96 from the Second World War. The project's first hit Das Boot (1991) is a techno/dance-version of the film's title melody, which had been originally composed by Klaus Doldinger. Also an album of the same name was occasionally number one on the charts. This album smoothed the way for the commercial break-through of the dance music in Germany.
