    Culture Club "Starman"

Culture Club was a popular 1980s English pop group, perhaps most noticeable for their gender-bending frontman Boy George. The other members of the band were Roy Hay on guitars and keyboards, Mikey Craig playing bass and Jon Moss (ex Damned, London and Adam and the Ants) on drums.
Before the formation of Culture Club, George sang briefly with the British group Bow Wow Wow as Lieutenant Lush and became quite popular in the role. This caused friction with the group and its lead singer Annabella Lwin. After his tenure with the group he decided to start his own band and enlisted Craig, and then Moss, and finally Hay. The group recorded demos, which were paid for by EMI Records, but the label was unimpressed and decided not to sign the group. Upstart company Virgin Records signed the group in the UK, and Epic Records signed them in the US as Virgin did not have a US presence at the time. Their first album, 1982's Kissing to Be Clever, saw the release of their first single "White Boy". Although a clever dance song, it failed to rise in the upper reaches of the charts but George was still happy because "5000 people bought my song and didn't even know me". Next single "I'm Afraid Of Me" also failed at radio. The release of the third single "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?" (which went 'all the way' in the BBC-Charts in late 1982), became an international hit, peaking at #1 in over a dozen countries (#2 US). Follow up single "Time (Clock of the Heart)", became a hit in the US and UK, and "I'll Tumble 4 Ya" also became a Top 10 hit in America. The album sold two million copies in the US at its time of release. Unique in his eccentric manner of dress and androgynous look, Boy George became a worldwide celebrity and favourite of new music network MTV.

    Alphaville "Dance With Me"

Alphaville is a German synthpop/-rock music group which gained popularity in the 1980s. The founding members were Marian Gold (real name Hartwig Schierbaum, born May 26, 1954 in Herford), Bernhard Lloyd (real name Bernhard Gößling, born June 6th, 1960 in Enger, Bielefeld) and Frank Mertens (real name Frank Sorgatz, born October 26, 1961 in Enger, Bielefeld). The band was at first named Forever Young. The band is best known for its two biggest hits, "Big in Japan" and "Forever Young", which was the theme for many high school proms in the 1980s, and was featured in the 2004 film Napoleon Dynamite.
In 1984 the re-named Alphaville released their debut single "Big in Japan", followed by "Sounds Like a Melody" and "Forever Young", quickly followed by the album Forever Young. Despite its success Frank Mertens left the band in the same year and was replaced by Ricky Echolette (born Wolfgang Neuhaus, in Cologne, August 6, 1960) in January 1985 - already credited in "Forever Young" album.
"Big In Japan" was their biggest U.S. and UK success, shooting to #1 on Billboard's Dance chart, number 8 on the official UK chart and #1 in their native Germany, in Switzerland and in Sweden, #2 in Italy and in the Netherlands, #4 in Austria and Ireland, and #5 in South Africa. While they never again achieved a UK Top 20 hit, in the U.S. several of their releases went Top 40 on the American Dance charts. They were less successful at mainstream U.S. radio, reflected by their showing on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles charts, where "Big" only reached #66. The next single "Sounds like a Melody" reached the top 5 in Austria, Germany, Italy, South Africa and Switzerland where Alphaville had a huge success. The first U.S. release of the following single "Forever Young" failed to scale the charts, even it was again a Top 10 hit in Germany, Italy, South Africa and Switzerland in 1984/85.

    Chris Isaak "Wicked Game"

Chris J. Isaak (born June 26, 1956 in Stockton, California as Christopher Joseph Isaak) is an American indie rock, pop, and rock and roll singer, songwriter, and occasional actor.

Wicked Game is the name of a compilation album by Chris Isaak, an American singer and songwriter which was released by Warner Brothers in 1990. The record contains 10 of his best-known songs from his first 3 albums.

To capitalise on Isaak's growing success, particularly after the song "Wicked Game" went top 10 in both the UK and the US, Warner Brothers released Wicked Game, an album that was essentially highlights of his recording career up to that point.

"Wicked Game" is a song that was originally released by Chris Isaak in 1989. It can be found on his Heart Shaped World album. Despite being released in 1989, it didn't become a hit until January of 1991, when it reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The "wicked game" is played by a woman who appears to have tricked the singer into loving her: "What a wicked game to play, to make me feel this way / What a wicked thing to do, to let me dream of you". The popular music video directed by Herb Ritts featured top model Helena Christensen rolling on the beach with Isaak. A previous version of the video was commissioned for the Wild at Heart soundtrack, and was directed by David Lynch [1]
