Nazareth "Let Me Be Your Leader"

The Scottish hard rock quartet Nazareth had a handful of hard rock hits in the late '70s, including the proto-power ballad "Love Hurts." Formed in 1968, the band featured vocalist Dan McCafferty, guitarist Manny Charlton, bassist Pete Agnew, and drummer Darrell Sweet. The band had relocated to London by 1970, and they released their self-titled debut album in 1971. Both Nazareth and 1972's Exercises received favorable attention by British hard rockers, but it was 1973's Razamanaz that moved them into the U.K. Top Ten (both "Broken Down Angel" and "Bad Bad Boy" were hit singles). Loud 'n' Proud and Rampant (both 1974) followed the same formula, yet were slightly less successful. Released the following year, Hair of the Dog established Nazareth as an internationally popular hard rock band. Featuring their revamped version of the Everly Brothers' "Love Hurts," the album sold over a million copies in the U.S. Until the end of the '70s, the band continued successfully as a quartet, releasing a series of Top 100 albums. In 1979, they added former Sensational Alex Harvey Band guitarist Zal Cleminson to their lineup; he left after recording two albums -- 1979's No Mean City and 1980's Malice in Wonderland -- and was replaced by former Spirit keyboardist John Locke. Following the 1981 live album 'Snaz, guitarist Bill Rankin also joined the group; Locke left soon after his addition and Rankin switched to keyboards.
By this time, their commercial appeal had dwindled across both the U.K. and the U.S. By the mid-'80s, Nazareth was left without a record contract, so the band was put on hiatus for a few years. They returned in 1992 with No Jive, which failed to gain an audience in America and Europe. In 1999, Nazareth resurfaced yet again with Boogaloo.

    Pink Floyd "Take It Back"

The Division Bell is the most recent studio album released by Pink Floyd in 1994 (March 30 in the United Kingdom, April 5 in the United States). The album was recorded at a number of studios, including guitarist/vocalist David Gilmour's houseboat studio called The Astoria. It debuted at #1 on The Billboard 200 album charts in April of 1994. The album was certified Gold, Platinum and Double Platinum in the US in June of 1994 and Triple Platinum in January of 1999 in the US. The album was named by Douglas Adams, taken from a line of the final track, "High Hopes". Its release was accompanied by a successful tour documented in the P*U*L*S*E album released the following year.

Take It Back is a song from Pink Floyd's 1994 album, The Division Bell. While most apparently a love song, it can also be interpreted to be about Mother Nature, and how man abuses the Earth. Some comparisons have been drawn between the song and U2's Where the Streets Have No Name for its similar song structure and guitar riff, though these claims have yet to be acknowledged by either band. The riff is repeated later in the album on Keep Talking.

Black Sabbath "The Mob Rules "

Mob Rules is Black Sabbath's tenth studio album, released in 1981 following the success of Heaven and Hell. The title track appeared in the animated motion picture Heavy Metal. The lyrical themes are dark, notably on tracks such as Sign of the Southern Cross and Falling off the Edge of the World. It is the first album to feature Vinny Appice on drums, who replaced original member Bill Ward. This led to Ozzy Osbourne bitterly dubbing the line-up "Geezer and the three Wops".
It is rumoured that the cover art for this album contains a heavily-desguised message that reads "KILL OZZY", a reference to former Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne, with whom then Sabbath were beginning a longstanding feud. It is apparently located toward the bottom of the picture, on the ground, written in a dark, crimson colour. However, the message is barely legible, and it is widely believed that the purported text is coincidental. link
The Live Evil album was recorded on the Mob Rules tour.

    Robert Plant "Big Log"

The Principle of Moments is the second solo album from former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant. It was Plant's second Top 10 album in the United States and United Kingdom. Genesis drummer Phil Collins played drums for six of the album's eight songs (as he did on Pictures at Eleven), and also participated in the subsequent tour. On the other two tracks performed former Jethro Tull drummer Barriemore Barlow.

Queen "Who Wants To Live Forever"

"Who Wants to Live Forever" is a song by the English rock band, Queen. The song is the sixth track on the album A Kind of Magic, released in June 1986, and was written by guitarist Brian May for the soundtrack to the film Highlander. May sings lead on the first verse before Freddie Mercury takes over for the remainder of the song. The version which can be heard in the film is unique, in that it features Mercury singing lead vocals on the first verse.
An instrumental version of the song, titled "Forever", was included as a bonus track on the CD version of the album. This instrumental featured only a piano, with keyboard accompaniment during the chorus sections. It is likely that this track was recorded solely by Brian May.

    Whitesnake "Is This Love?"

Whitesnake, the self-titled 1987 album by the hard rock band of the same name, was a major crossover hit and one of the top-selling albums in the hair metal genre, eventually selling over eight million copies (and thus going eight times platinum). The album peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart. Its success even boosted its predecessor, Slide It In, from gold to double platinum status.
In Europe the album was called 1987 which featured a different running order and two extra tracks, "Looking For Love" and "You're Gonna Break My Heart Again".
After the album was recorded, lead singer David Coverdale fired the band members who had played on the recordings: John Sykes (guitar), who went on to found Blue Murder; Neil Murray (bass); and Aynsley Dunbar (drums). Adrian Vandenberg, who played on the album as a session musician, joined the band on a full-time basis after the other members were gone.
The album produced three major crossover hit singles: the Led Zeppelin-influenced "Still of the Night", "Here I Go Again", the band's only #1 single in the U.S. and the power ballad "Is This Love", which reached #2 on the U.S. singles chart.
All videos from the album earned substantial airplay on MTV in part due to appearances by Tawny Kitaen, then the wife of Whitesnake lead singer David Coverdale.
The album's success paved the way for other Zeppelin-derived acts, such as Kingdom Come, to find commercial success in the U.S.

Foreigner "Waiting For A Girl Like You"

4 ( #1 US, #5 UK ) is the fourth album by American rock band Foreigner, released in 1981. Several singles from the album were successful, including "Urgent," "Waiting For A Girl Like You," and "Juke Box Hero."
The album marked the completion of the band's shift to hard rock, begun in Head Games. Half of the original lineup - Ian McDonald, Al Greenwood, and Ed Gagliardi - had left before the recording of 4. As a result, all of the songs on the album are compositions by Mick Jones and/or Lou Gramm. McDonald and Greenwood had played saxophone and keyboards, respectively, and so several session musicians were needed to replace their contributions, among them Junior Walker, whose sax solo in the bridge of "Urgent" is a high point of the album, and a young Thomas Dolby, who would later have a successful solo career.

    Eagles "New Kid In Town"

Hotel California is an album released by American rock band the Eagles in late 1976 (see 1976 in music).
Hotel California was the Eagles' fifth album of original material and became a major commercial hit; since its release in late 1976, it has sold over 16 million copies in the U.S. alone, and is their best-selling album of original material. The album was at #1 for eight weeks between late 1976 and early 1977 (non-consecutively), and included two tracks which became #1 hits as singles on the Billboard Hot 100: "New Kid in Town", on February 26, 1977, and "Hotel California" on May 7, 1977.
In 2001 the TV network VH1 named Hotel California the 38th greatest album of all time. Hotel California was ranked 39th in a 2005 survey held by British television's Channel 4 to determine the 100 greatest albums of all time. In 2003, the album was ranked number 37 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

    Eric Clapton "Wonderful Tonight"

"Wonderful Tonight" is a romantic song written by Eric Clapton about his then-wife, Pattie Boyd. It was included on Clapton's 1977 album Slowhand and released as a single the following year.
While generally regarded as a romantic song (and, for that matter, one of the most popular slow-dancing songs ever recorded), "Wonderful Tonight"'s genesis was less than starry-eyed lyricism. Clapton's inspiration came as he grew impatient for Boyd to finish dressing for a party. In that regard, the lyric "You look wonderful tonight" could be interpreted less as a heartfelt compliment and more as a prod to be finished getting dressed. Nevertheless, the subsequent lyrics grow more patient and loving.
The instrumentation is also worth mention. Clapton's guitar work is largely free of distortion. While not completely uncharacteristic, the use of "clean" guitar marks Clapton's transition away from the overdriven riffs that he had helped popularize with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and Cream.
The song is a narrative, dealing with a party the pair attended. Each of the three verses is a scene from a part of the night: preparing for the party, going to the party, and coming home from the party. In each scene, he mentions how wonderful she is: how beautiful she looks while preparing for the party, how happy he is to be at the party with her, and how grateful he is that she puts up with him after he drinks a bit too much.

Phil Collins "Another Day In Paradise (live)"

"Another Day in Paradise" was the first single released from Phil Collins' number-one album, ...But Seriously. Written to bring attention to the problem of homelessness, the song was a substantial departure from the dance pop music of his previous album, No Jacket Required.
The song was another huge hit for Collins. On December 23, 1989, it became Collins's seventh (and to date, final) number-one single in the United States. The song was also the final number-one song of the 1980s in the U.S., and remained at number-one for four weeks, which sometimes classifies the song as a hit from the 1990s as well. It also saw out the 1980s and saw in the 1990s at the top of the German singles chart. The song had already reached number two in the UK in November of that year. The single version is slightly different from the album version in that it uses a shorter intro. David Crosby also appears on the backing vocals.
