Nazareth: "Turn On Your Receiver"
Nazareth is an earthy and versatile British / Scottish rock band that had several hard rock hits, as well as scoring with the Felice and Boudleaux Bryant penned ballad, "Love Hurts", in the middle of the 1970s.
Nazareth was formed in 1968 in Dunfermline, Scotland by vocalist Dan McCafferty, guitarist Manny Charlton, bassist Pete Agnew, and drummer Darrell Sweet. Nazareth's biggest album, Hair Of The Dog, was released in 1975. The title track of that album (popularly, though incorrectly, known as "Now You're Messing With A Son Of A Bitch") became became a staple of 1970s rock radio. The musical peak of Nazareth was in the mid 1970s, with the albums: Razamanaz (early 1973), Loud 'N' Proud (late 1973), Rampant (1974) and Hair Of The Dog (1975). The first three of these were produced by Deep Purple bass guitarist Roger Glover, the last being produced by Nazareth guitarist Manny Charlton. All four were hard rock in style, and of a high standard. However, the next albums saw a serious change in musical direction.
Dire Straits "Six Blade Knife"
Dire Straits was a British rock band, formed in 1977 by Mark Knopfler (guitar and vocals), his brother David Knopfler (guitar), John Illsley (bass) and Pick Withers (drums), and managed by Ed Bicknell. Although the band was formed in an era when punk rock reigned, Dire Straits worked within the conventions of classic rock, albeit with a stripped-down sound that appealed to modern audiences weary of the overproduced stadium rock of the 1970s (see 1970s in music). Unusually, in their early days Mark and David used small low wattage combo amps, allowing pub patrons to converse while the band played. Despite this oddly self-effacing approach to rock and roll, Dire Straits soon became hugely successful with their first album going multi-platinum globally.
Fleetwood Mac "Dreams"
Fleetwood Mac (formed in 1967) is an influential and commercially successful British-American band whose music has ranged from blues to pop. The band was named after its rhythm section, drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie, who are the only two members to stay with the band throughout its long and varied history. Fleetwood Mac is best known as the venue for the musical (and romantic) partnership of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, but the band existed for a decade before Buckingham and Nicks joined up.
Sheryl Crow "Steve McQueen"
Sheryl Crow "First Cut Is The Deepest"
Sheryl Suzanne Crow (born February 11, 1962 in Kennett, Missouri.) is an eight-time Grammy winning American blues rock singer, guitarist, bassist and songwriter. Motivated by her new-found success, Crow decided to move to Los Angeles in 1986. In 1996 Crow released her self titled second album, which earned her the cover of Rolling Stone. In 1998 Crow released a third album, called The Globe Sessions. She discussed in press interviews having gone through a deep depression, and had a highly publicized relationship with music legend Eric Clapton. The Album won a Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance in 2000 when it was included in her album, "Sheryl Crow and Friends: Live from Central Park."

Ted Nugent "Cat Scratch Fewer"
Theodore Anthony "Ted" Nugent (born December 13, 1948) (aka "The Nuge", "Uncle Ted", "Sweaty Teddy"and "The Motor City Madman") is a hard rock guitarist from Detroit, Michigan. Nugent gained acclaim for his raucous, intense live music, and still tours frequently today. During the 1980s, near the end of the decade, Nugent formed a supergroup, Damn Yankees, with Jack Blades (bass, vocals, formerly of Night Ranger), Tommy Shaw (guitar, vocals, formerly of Styx) and Michael Cartellone (drums). Damn Yankees (1990) was a hit, selling 5 million albums, thanks in no small part to the smash hit power ballad "High Enough."
Night Ranger "Sister Christian"
Night Ranger, a rock band formed in San Francisco, California in 1981. The quintet are most known for the power-ballad "Sister Christian," which peaked at #5 in early 1984.
Rainbow "Stargazer"
Rainbow was a British progressive metal/hard rock band formed by Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore in 1975. In addition to Blackmore, the band originally consisted of former Elf lead singer Ronnie James Dio, bassist Craig Gruber, drummer Gary Driscoll, and keyboardist Mickey Lee Soule. Blackmore fired everybody except Dio shortly after the first album was recorded and recruited drummer Cozy Powell (formerly of the Jeff Beck Group), bassist Jimmy Bain and keyboard player Tony Carey. This lineup went on to record the album Rainbow Rising. The 8 minute and 26 second piece "Stargazer" is renowned for the unmatched powerful vocals of Ronnie James Dio. Its use of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra to strengthen and enrich the riffs played by the guitar, bass and keyboards in "Stargazer" (essentially, the orchestra was doubling with the keyboards) was an idea that led to the album "Rising"'s establishment as one of Rainbow's best albums, if not the best. The song worked great with Ritchie Blackmore's renaissance-style guitar work.
Over the years Rainbow went through many lineup changes.
