A message from :P , head of Worldwide Security:

Tsunami Charity Scams

Dear Colleagues:

Several media stories recently outlined attempts to illegally benefit from the devastation in South Asia caused by the tsunami. These fraudulent solicitations include advertisements on the Internet and phone requests for donations.

Individuals seeking to alleviate suffering are to be commended, but before you send them donations, we encourage you to consider these recommendations:

· Always verify the validity of the organization. Its name or website may be very similar to one you recognize but ever so slightly different (e.g., a web address that is slightly different).

· Don’t donate by credit or debit card. Instead, use a check or money order to make your contributions.

· Be careful of solicitations on the street, by phone or through e-mail.

· Personal appeals from people who claim to be victims are a red flag.

Please visit our website at :P or the FBI website at http://www.fbi.gov for more information on scams and other security-related material.

спасибо. лучше сразу - либо Red Cross, либо Unicef.

(а вообще ужасно грустно, что кто-то вот так наживается на человеческом горе.)

Это неизбежно, поэтому даю donations только всемирно известным организациям
