NAS Systems Administrator
The NAS Systems Administrator with proven experience in administering NetApp appliance technology delivering solutions to a variety of technology and business clients. Responsible for managing storage for NFS and CIFS/Windows file services and effectively allocating and managing centralized NAS infrastructure. Individual should seamlessly blend technical knowledge, business knowledge, project management and effective communication to meet storage solutions.
Principal Responsibilities:
Interaction with Storage Engineering, Business Desktop SA's and other infrastructure support teams to provide daily support and technology solutions
Delivery of high quality storage provisioning services to the Business Application teams
Administer and maintain day-to-day operational support, implementations and periodic hardware and software maintenance.
Level 1 and Level 2 support tasks include:
Performing daily system health checkouts
HW/OS installs/upgrades
Configurations including initial Filer deployment in Data Center, qtree, volume, aggregates and snapshots, multi-protocol management
Provisioning of storage allocations
Capacity management
Performance analysis, tuning and management
Data migrations
Perform power down checkouts
Coordinating and managing disk failure replacement process with vendor and Operations
Perform daily checkouts on backups and coordinate for resolution with Backup team
Maintain and update Filers inventory
Generate DFM reports on utilization, growth trends and provide recommendations
Basic troubleshooting
Participate in assessing current environment and making recommendations for improvement with an eye to automation
Share information and promote effective communication among peers and clients.
Write comprehensive documentation and maintain operational Run-books
Consistently meet the SLA's set with the client for the services provided.
Experience/Skills:
Minimum 2-3 years of experience supporting NetApp implementations and configurations
Solid understanding of hardware platforms such as FAS9XXX, 3XXX, 6XXX, 2XXX series, FC loops, MK4-DS14, ESH modules, Raiddp with familiarity around hardware troubleshooting.
Knowledge of protocols such as NFS and CIFS (a must), FC, and iSCSI.
Well versed in disaster recovery technology - snapmirror, snapshots, backups
Knowledge of tools - DFM, VFM, VERITAS Command Center Storage
Proficient in scripting languages such as Perl, UNIX Shell or VBScript
Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, NIS Authentication, Networking and SAN experience a plus
Three to five years of experience supporting Microsoft or UNIX platform
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Flexible work hours ( on-call rotations )
Self starter with minimum supervision
