Statement on Validity of ‘Green Cards' (I-551) with No Expiration Dates
December 11, 2007
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Press Secretary Mr. Christopher Bentley released a statement saying that ‘Green Cards’ (I-551) with no expiration dates were still valid. The statement is as follows:
“Despite rumors to the contrary, ‘green cards’ (I-551) with no expiration dates are still valid, and lawful permanent residents carrying those cards will continue to receive all appropriate benefits. These cards will remain valid until the implementation of the final rule addressing this issue.”
Сами требовали, чтобы владельцы гринкарт старого типа (без даты окончания действия) немедленно меняли их на новые. Грозились даже не впускать при въезде в страну.
