Production Services Provides with the technical infrastructure that delivers and support the platform, (Compaq, Sun), Operating Systems (Windows, Solaris), Database Management Systems (Oracle, Sybase and MSSQL).
Main Job Function
Join the New York/New Jersey Unix DBA Team that provides 2nd line DBA support for:
700 Oracle Instances
650 Sybase Servers
1200 MSSQL Servers
Provide project support for the Application Projects
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Hands on work
Database Administration
Oracle/Sybase installation, configuration and maintenance.
Production / Development DB Administration of Oracle. Versions 9i/10g, Sybase versions 11.9.2, 12.0 and 12.5.
Oracle/Sybase version migration(s) and upgrades.
Performance tuning of Oracle/Sybase configurations.
PLSQL/TSQL performance tuning and troubleshooting.
Acting as primary DBA for allocated application development projects.
Qualifications/Education Required
BS/BA
Qualifications/Education Preferred
Computer Science / Physics / Mathematics
Electronics Degree
Experience Required
5-years+ Computer Industry.
5-years+ Production/Development
4 Years Production support DBA experience
Experience Preferred
2 year+ Finance Industry
Skills / Aptitude Required
Sr Oracle/MSSQL DBA with a minimum of four years experience in:
Oracle 8i/9i/10g
MSSQL 2000/2005
Fluent in backup and recovery in Oracle/MSSQL Utilities and excellent performance/tuning skills.
Detailed knowledge of Oracle/MSSQL software, with an awareness of the capabilities and shortcomings.
Heavy experience in scripting and clustering experience required
Skills / Aptitude Preferred
Additional experience with Sybase including replication server preferred.
