Main Job Function :
Unix SA to perform all run-the-bank tasks including 24 X 7 supports within a follow the sun operational model.
Main Duties and Responsibilities :
• To provide UNIX support – Will include building, monitoring and capacity planning for growth
• Provide project tracking and reporting to global Unix teams
• Work with the global Unix and Engineering team in defining, developing a supportable process for the bank
• To assist with day to day, cross application UNIX platform support.
• To provide weekend cover for upgrades / fixes / installs as part of a scheduled team rota.
Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills Required :
BS/BA in Science or Engineering
Excellent technical knowledge gained from senior hands on role within a global organization. Skills must be current and include;
• 4 years experience of Solaris and Sun hardware in a mission critical environment
• 4 years experience of Linux in a commercial environment
The candidate should possess the following skills:
• Excellent knowledge of Sun Solaris and the Sun SPARC hardware range
• Excellent knowledge of Veritas File system, Volume Manager and Cluster products
• Excellent knowledge of Linux, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux
• Excellent knowledge of VMware ESX
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Scripting
• Regular and ad-hoc reporting
• Manage proactive maintenance programs
• Prioritize workload and monitor deliverables
Compliance with both internal and external audit requirements
Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills Preferred :
• Sun certification
• Red Hat certification
Working experience in an investment banking environment is preferred.
Knowledge with Unix system security is a plus.
