Уже несколько лет делаю фотографии о Сент-Луисе. Многие считают , что здесь
нечего смотреть и некуда пойти. Своей заметкой и фотографиями я хочу
показать, что это не так. В Сент- Луисе все время проводится много
выставок и мероприятий. Здесь очень много достопримечательностей не только
национального, но мирового значения. Очень много известных деятелей во
многих областях родились и работали в Сент-Луисе. В моей галлереи есть
альбомы посвященные зоопарку, ботаническому саду, музею исскуств, выставкам
и просто видам природы и города в разное время года.

Если у кого-то есть замечания и предложения по фотографиям , я с удовольствием их прочитаю.

Сент- Луис крупный промышленный, научный и культурный центр. Я постарался
привести некоторые факты, найденные в интернете, которые показывают , что
Сент-Луис имеет много предприятий и учреждений не только национального , но
и мирового значения. Кстати, о самом большом в мире собрании мозаики в
Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis ,я узнал от эскурсовода, когда с женой были
во Франции. Так что, если кто не видел рекомендую посмотреть это
уникальное зрелище, такого нет даже в Италии.

Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc. (NYSE: BUD) operates the largest brewing
company in the United States in volume with a 48.8 percent share of beer
sales. Worldwide, Anheuser-Busch's beer sales volume was 121.9 million
barrels in 2005. It is the world's third largest brewing company in volume
after InBev and SABMiller. The company is based in St. Louis, Missouri.

McDonnell Douglas was a major American aerospace manufacturer and defense
contractor, producing a number of famous commercial and military aircraft.
It merged with Boeing in 1997 to form The Boeing Company. Boeing
manufactures the F/A-18 Super Hornet and JDAM smart bombs in St. Louis, and
has developed - at times secretly - several unmanned combat air vehicles
(UCAVs).

Boeing Integrated Defense Systems (Boeing IDS), based in St. Louis,
Missouri, USA, is a unit of The Boeing Company responsible for defense and
aerospace products and services. Integrated Defense Systems was formed in
2002 by combining the former "Military Aircraft and Missile Systems" and
"Space and Communications" divisions.[3] Integrated Defense Systems makes
Boeing the second-largest defense contractor in the world and is responsible
for 56% of the company's income.[4]

The Ralston Purina Company (today's Nestle Purina PetCare), based in St.
Louis, Missouri, was a major American corporation best known for its
production and marketing of animal feeds. Nestle Purina PetCare Company is
the world's largest pet food producer.



The Monsanto Company (NYSE: MON) is a multinational agricultural
biotechnology corporation. It is the world's leading producer of the
herbicide glyphosate, marketed as "Roundup". Monsanto is also by far the
leading producer of genetically engineered (GE) seed, holding 70%-100%
market share for various crops.



Energizer. With global headquarters in St. Louis and over 10,000 Associates
in 140 countries, Energizer stands as the world's largest manufacturer of
batteries and flashlights, dedicated to predicting and meeting the needs of
the consumer.



Arch Coal (NYSE: ACI) is a United States coal mining and processing company.
The company mines, processes, and markets bituminous and sub-bituminous coal
with low sulfur content in the United States. Arch Coal is the second
largest supplier of coal in the U.S.[1] - second only to Peabody Energy.[2]
Arch Coal claims to supply 12% of the domestic market.[3]

Arch Coal operates 21 active mines and controls approximately 3.1 billion
tons of proven and probable coal reserves, located in the Central
Appalachia, the Powder River Basin, and the Western Bituminous regions.[4]
The company operates mines in Colorado, Kentucky, Utah, Virginia, West
Virginia and Wyoming, and is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri





Emerson Electric Company NYSE: EMR was established in 1890 in St. Louis,
Emerson was the first to sell electric fans in the United States in 1892. It
quickly expanded its product line to include electric sewing machines,
electric dental drills, and power tools.



Charter Communications, the nation's fourth largest broadband communications
company, is also headquartered in suburban St. Louis.



St. Louis remains home to railway car plants; two DaimlerChrysler plants in
the nearby suburb of Fenton, where minivans and pickup trucks are built; a
General Motors plant in suburban Wentzville;



Brown Shoe Company, Inc. is a $2.5 billion footwear company with worldwide
operations. The company operates the 1000-store Famous Footwear chain. It
also operates 400 Naturalizer stores in the U.S. and Canada



Express Scripts knows its customers like their drugs fast. One of the
largest pharmacy benefits management (PBM) companies in North America,
Express Scripts has about 50 million members in the US and Canada.

the oldest university west of the Mississippi.





The Saint Louis Zoological Park is one of the oldest and largest
free-admission zoos in the country, and is home to an Insectarium and the
Prairie Village. The St. Louis Zoo enjoys the distinction of being the most
visited zoo in the United States, having surpassed the San Diego Zoo in
terms of popularity. It boasts many exhibits which are animal-

friendly in terms of habitat.



St. Louis is the home of the world-renowned Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra
which was founded in St. Louis in 1880--the second oldest orchestra in the
nation--and which has over the years been honored with six Grammy Awards and
fifty-six nominations



Forest Park, located on the western edge of the central corridor of the City
of St. Louis, is one of the largest urban parks in the world, outsizing
Central Park in New York City by 500 acres. It offers many of St. Louis's
most popular attractions: the Saint Louis Zoological Park, the Municipal
Theatre (also known as, The Muny, the largest and oldest outdoor musical
theatre in the United States),

The Missouri Botanical Garden is a botanical garden located in St. Louis,
Missouri, and is also known informally as "Shaw's Garden" is one of the
world's leading botanical research centers . Founded in 1859, the Missouri
Botanical Garden is one of the oldest botanical institutions in the United
States

Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis (more commonly known as "the New
Cathedral"), a large Roman Catholic cathedral designed in the Byzantine and
Romanesque styles. In 1912, installation of mosaics in the interior began.
Completed in 1988, it contains 41.5 million glass tesserae pieces applying
over 7,000 colors. Covering 83,000 square feet (8,000 m²), it is the largest
mosaic collection in the world, and was created by 20 different artists.

St Louis Gateway Arch, The stainless steel structure rises 630 feet high
from a 60-foot foundation and spans 630 feet at ground level. The nation's
tallest memorial.

The Saint Louis Art Museum is rated as one of the principal art museums in
the United States and is visited by up to a half million persons every year.
The Saint Louis Art Museum is one of the nation's leading comprehensive art
museums containing more than 30,000 objects. Its collections include works
of art of exceptional quality from virtually every culture and time period.
Areas of notable depth include Oceanic art, pre-Columbian art, ancient

20th century. The Saint Louis Art Museum is rated among the top 10 art
museums in the country. Its education programs serve more people per capita
than any other art museum in the country.
