Human Resources Specialist

Human Resources Specialists are central to providing the Army with qualified Soldiers. A Human Resources Specialists primarily helps Soldiers develop their Army careers, but also provides personnel support and assistance to all divisions of the Army.

Responsibilities of the Human Resources Specialist may include:


Organizing, maintaining and reviewing personnel records
Entering and retrieving personnel information using computers
Processing recommendations for awards and decorations
Arranging awards ceremonies
Preparing, updating and coordinating requests for evaluations
Preparing and monitoring Soldier requests for ID cards and tags, leaves of absence and passes
Ordering and maintaining office supplies
Maintaining filing systems


Administrative Specialist

Accurate information is crucial for planning and managing Army operations. Administrative Specialists make sure that information is recorded, stored and delivered in order to keep operations running as smoothly as possible.

Administrative Specialist duties include:


Typing letters, reports, requisition forms and official orders
Organizing and maintaining files and publications
Ordering office supplies
Greeting and assisting office visitors
Scheduling training and leave for unit personnel
Answering phones and providing general information


Military Police

Crimes can happen anywhere and the Army is no exception. Fortunately, the Army has their own law enforcement and security specialists to handle crimes committed on Army property or that involve Army personnel. Military Police protect lives and property on Army bases by enforcing military laws and regulations, as well as controlling traffic, preventing crime and responding to emergencies.

Military Police are primarily responsible for providing support to the battlefield by conducting area security, police intelligence operations, internment and resettlement, maneuver and mobility support, and law and order operations. Some of your duties as a member of the Military Police team may include:


Patrolling areas on foot, by car or by boat
Interviewing witnesses, victims and suspects in the course of investigating crimes
Collecting fingerprints and other evidence
Arresting and charging criminal suspects
Training and working with police dogs
Testifying in court
Guarding entrances and conducting traffic control


Firefighter

All Army bases have their own protection services, including fire departments. Army firefighters are responsible for protecting lives and property from fire. Firefighters control fires and help prevent them in buildings, aircraft and aboard ships.

Some of your duties as a Firefighter may include:


Performing rescue and firefighting operations during structural fires, aircraft crash incidents, vehicle emergencies and natural cover fires
Performing emergency response duties during hazardous materials incidents
Operating pumps, hoses and extinguishers
Forcing entry into aircraft, vehicles and buildings in order to fight fires and rescue personnel
Driving firefighting trucks and emergency rescue vehicles
Giving first aid to injured personnel
Inspecting aircraft, buildings and equipment for fire hazards
Teaching fire protection procedures
Repairing firefighting equipment and filling fire extinguishers


JAG Corps Attorney

The Army Judge Advocate General's Corps is the Army's Law department. The JAG Corps consists of attorneys, legal assistants and judges. As an Officer in the JAG Corps and a practicing attorney or judge, your responsibilities will cover a wide-range of practices that includes military law and criminal prosecution to international law and legal assistance-both in the U.S. and abroad.

You may also specialize in one of these areas as a JAG Attorney; Criminal Law, Legal Assistance, Civil Litigation, Administrative Law, Labor Law, International Law, Operational Law, Teaching, Medical Law, and Contract Law.

The responsibilities of an Army JAG Attorney include:


Supervising training of personnel in legal functions
Developing and executing services in many law fields
Supplying legal advice and services to Soldiers on Active Duty and in the Army Reserve
Representing Soldiers at court trials
Performing other defense-related duties
